West Hills College Lemoore
Assistant Womens Basketball Coach I, II or III

Assistant Coach I - $2,500 stipend per semester
Assistant Coach II - $5,000 stipend per semester
Assistant Coach III - $10,000 stipend per semester

Based on education and experience
Temporary Employment
*Stipend amount will be pro-rated based on start date*

Position Duties

Assistant Coach I
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of this position.
  • Coach is only responsible to coach at practice and during games.
  • Assist and support the Academic Success Program.
  • Advise and instruct students on theory and practice of assigned sport.
  • Assist with recruiting.
Assistant Coach II
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coach is only responsible to coach at practice and during games.
  • Remain current in theory, coaching and the subject matter and technique of effective instruction through participation in professional development.
  • Perform other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of this position.
  • Advise and instruct students on theory and practice of assigned sport.
  • Assist and support the Academic Success Program.
  • Assist with recruiting.
  • Assist with conditioning and weight training program.
Assistant Coach III
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in building strong relations with the community and the athletic department.
  • Assist student athletes in completing required academics and transfer to a four-year institution.
  • Provide assistance in the assigned intercollegiate sport and physical education courses.
  • Remain current in theory, coaching and the subject matter and technique of effective instruction through participation in professional development.
  • Advise and instruct students on theory and practice of assigned sport.
  • Perform other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of this position.

Qualifications
Knowledge and Skills
Requires interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy. Requires the skill to work with constant interruptions.
Abilities
Requires the ability to work with a diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, cultural, disability and religious backgrounds of community college students. Ability to communicate clearly with students and staff, both orally and in writing. Requires the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and community organizations.
Physical Abilities
Requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to heavy weights of up to 75 pounds on a regular basis. Requires the ability to push, pull, and guide materials over 75 pounds. Requires the ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch on a regular basis. Requires near and far visual acuity to read printed materials, moving objects, and observe work-in-progress. Requires speaking and hearing to carry on ordinary conversations. Requires the ability to reach overhead above the shoulders and horizontally. Requires sufficient arm, hand, finger dexterity to use a computer keyboard and other office equipment.
Education and Experience
Associate's degree and two years of experience coaching at
the high school or collegiate level. Intercollegiate playing experience may be used to supplement coaching experience.
Licenses and Certificates
Require a valid driver's license. Requires CPR and First Aid certification.
Working Conditions
Work is performed indoors and outdoors (athletic field, classroom and virtual classroom environment) where some safety considerations exist. Physical contact with athletes.
Assistant Coach II
Qualifications

Requires knowledge of modern instructional practices, procedures and equipment. Requires knowledge of coaching techniques and theory. Requires interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy. Requires the skill to work with constant interruptions.

Requires the ability to work with a diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, cultural, disability and religious backgrounds of community college students. Ability to implement contemporary teaching methods and technologies. Ability to communicate clearly with students and staff, both orally and in writing. Requires the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and community organizations.

Assistant Coach III
Qualifications
Knowledge and Skills
Requires knowledge of modern instructional practices, procedures and equipment. Requires knowledge of coaching techniques and theory. Requires interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy. Requires the skill to work with constant interruptions. The position requires knowledge basic filing and record retention requirements and procedures. Requires the ability to use a computer and common office software. Requires sufficient knowledge of English language, grammar, spelling, and punctuation to prepare routine correspondence and internal memoranda.
Abilities
Requires the ability to work with a diverse academic, socio-economic, ethnic, cultural, disability and religious backgrounds of community college students. Ability to implement contemporary teaching methods and technologies. Ability to communicate clearly with students and staff, both orally and in writing. Requires the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and community organizations. Ability to instruct and evaluate students effectively in the classroom. Ability to demonstrate commitment to professional growth and development through memberships in regional, state and national organizations or other activities appropriate to the discipline or assignment.
