Position Overview:

The Asphalt Plant Operator will safely operate and relocate portable asphalt plants. They will also maintain/troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues. The Asphalt Plant Foreman is a full-time position that requires travel with overtime through peak season, reports to the assigned Project Superintendent and Operations Manager, and has supervisory responsibility.

Essential Duties and Functions:

  • Relocate asphalt plant for projects
  • Give direction to employees under their supervision
  • Ensure equipment and plant preventative maintenance is always performed timely, thoroughly, and correctly
  • Order and coordinate deliveries from material suppliers
  • Be prompt and timely for all assigned shifts, schedules, and projects
  • Safely operate a portable asphalt plant
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment when necessary
  • Promote a safe work environment while facilitating weekly safety meetings
  • Willingness to perform duties outside the normal scope of work (i.e. work in poor weather conditions or outside normal hours)
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems

Position Requirements:

  • Ten years minimum related experience
  • Mechanical background and skills
  • High level of reasoning abilities (i.e. Meeting deadlines, Prioritize Company and customer needs, serving as a leader to both peers and direct reports)
  • Consent to authorization of a pre-employment work screen, Motor Vehicle Record request, and drug test
  • Experience using computerized systems for operations and load out
  • Basic knowledge of gradations, mix designs, and asphalt placement
