Centner Academy is seeking an exceptional Art Teacher to join its growing faculty for the 2023-2024 school year. Must be comfortable being in person on campus with students.


Responsibilities:

  • Administer and develop Art specific assessments for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and/or developing individual learning plans.
  • Develop and maintain professional, collaborative, and collegial relationships with faculty and staff, as well as with community partners to the benefit of students and classes.
  • Help to maintain school policies, regulations, and expectations.
  • Participate in required non-classroom activities, including Back to School Night(s), parent/student conferences, retreats, faculty and Centner meetings, field trips, and special activities and performance events.
  • Demonstrate and teach in a range of 2D and 3D media appropriate for lower, middle, and upper school visual art classes. Media may include, drawing, painting, sculpture, digital arts, fashion, and architecture.
  • Establish effective communications and relationships with students and parents.
  • Be responsible at all times for the supervision of students in your care during classes and for students generally at all times when on campus or off campus.
  • Elevate and support learning, creativity and self-expression of the students.
  • Fulfill other responsibilities as assigned by the Centner administration.
  • Promote student engagement in the visual arts through annual Scholastic Arts participation.
  • Support Principals and the administrative leadership team with 4-5 annual art exhibitions and other tasks assigned.
  • Design and implement curriculum and instruction consistent with the mission, values, and standards established with the Centner program.
  • Exhibit a growth mindset about teaching practices and work toward professional goals and development.
  • Timely and professional completion of required reports and tasks.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and on enhancing instructional practices and strategies.


Essential skills and experience:

  • Strong communication skills (oral and written).
  • A bachelor’s degree in visual arts and/or visual arts education (preferably a Masters Degree).
  • Deep dedication to learning and developing as an educator.
  • Strong classroom management skills and expertise in differentiating instruction.
  • Collaborative work style paired with the ability to take initiative.
  • At least two years of successful classroom teaching experience and experience with implementing technology and multimedia in the classroom.


Nonessential skills and experience:

  • Eagerness to learn new technology and systems.
  • Very resourceful and adaptive, eager to embrace change, growth, and learning.
  • Experience working closely with diverse families.
