An Off-Campus Work-Study Position

FUSION, Downtown Albuquerque’s non-profit multi-disciplinary arts complex, is hiring for the position of Art Gallery Assistant. This position is a component of the gallery development team and responsible for day-to-day support for two indoor galleries and an outdoor sculpture garden. This is an outstanding opportunity to make a ground floor impact in a vibrant and growing arts scene.

Responsibilities
Manage the gallery spaces while implementing its policies and regulations, including its vision and mission.
Document gallery exhibitions for archival purposes through photographs and video.
Work with the Communications Director to create content and layout for brochures, flyers, signage, invites, etc.
Create and operate gallery social media pages.
Provide support in gallery installations, packaging and receiving of artwork, customer service, and perform various administrative duties
Develop and maintain a gallery calendar.
Gallery sit for open gallery hours.
Research grant opportunities.
Coordinate all aspects of the installation/dismantle of exhibitions with curators, artists and installation staff.
Work with the Communications Director on implementation of publicity for opening receptions.


Minimum Qualifications

Enrolled in a degree seeking program at UNM, Enrolled at least half-time (6 hours) at UNM for fall and spring semesters (Audit hours do not count), and if Work Study, you must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress.

  • Excellent writing skills and computer software proficiency also required.
  • MUST be able to exude knowledgeable professionalism.
  • MUST be work-study eligible.
  • MUST be a clear communicator and enjoy interacting with the public.
  • MUST be kind.
