Job Description
Logan Simpson is an award-winning, multidisciplinary consulting firm that specializes in environmental consulting, cultural resource management, community planning, and landscape architecture design services. We are seeking a candidate who will contribute to our diverse, collaborative, and innovative team; maximize the opportunity to learn new techniques and skills; and bring new tools and ideas to the table.


Logan Simpson has an immediate opening for a regular full-time or part-time Architectural Historian to work out of our Salt Lake City office.


Responsibilities Include


  • Conducting historic preservation fieldwork, including documentation of historic buildings, structures, sites, objects, and districts.
  • Evaluating properties according to the National Register of Historic Places Criteria for Evaluation.
  • Conducting historical background research.
  • Assist with preparations of budgets, scopes of work, and proposals.
  • Preparing reports and other work products, such as historic contexts, architectural surveys, historic property inventory forms, and National Register of Historic Places nominations.


Position Requires


  • Be able to work cooperatively in a team-oriented setting.
  • Bachelor's degree in Architectural History, History, Public History, Historic Preservation, or closely related field.
  • Experience with preparing nominations for the National Register of Historic Places.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Strong familiarity with architectural terms and styles typical to the western United States.
  • Meets the Secretary of the Interior's Professional Qualification Standards for Architectural History.
  • Familiarity with Historic American Buildings Survey and Historic American Engineering Record documentation.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Demonstrable experience in conducting archival research, building and/or cultural landscape and trails inventories, and reporting.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Master's degree in Architectural History, History, Public History, Historic Preservation, or closely related field.
  • Experience preparing Historic American Buildings Survey, Historic American Engineering Record, Historic American Landscape Survey, and National Historic Trails documentation.
  • Familiarity with Arizona, Nevada, and Colorado history.
  • Experience with National Historic Trails.


Compensation


This is a full-time position paid on a salaried basis between \$60,320 to \$79,040 annually, depending on experience and education.
