APPRENTICESHIP JOB OPPORTUNITIES FOR

EQUIPMENT SERVICE MECHANIC

Iredell County is pleased to partner with NC Community Colleges Apprenticeship and offer an
Apprenticeship Job Opportunity as an Equipment Service Mechanic with Vehicle Services. Upon
successful completion of this program, will receive NC State Inspection License. The position is
full-time Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 4:00pm with benefits such as: health insurance, dental,

REQUIREMENTS:
No experience is required.
Must be able to pass Criminal Background check.

SALARY:
Starting Salary: $18.50 per hour
All class time is paid work time
All training time is paid work time

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Upon successful completion of the Apprenticeship Program, you will be qualified to perform the
duties as an Equipment Service Mechanic. The duties of the position are:

 Performs preventive maintenance and repair on a variety of vehicles, small motors, heavy
equipment and trailers. Repair of gasoline and diesel engines

 Performs scheduled preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment such as tune-ups,
checking lights, tires, oil changes, brake linings and rotors, wiper blades, horns,
suspensions, etc.

 Operate equipment such as lift jacks, air guns, battery chargers, wrenches, air compressors,
welding units, and other hand tools.

 Lubricates repairs and replaces parts and filters; cleans and replaces spark plugs, installs
radiator hoses, and replaces belts; installs air conditioning compressor.

 Change, replaces and checks brakes, replaces hoses, etc.
 Performs work on electrical, exhaust, transmission, brake, air conditioning and hydraulic

systems.

 Performs NC Vehicle Inspections.
 Clean Facility and Vehicles as needed.
 Disassemble, organize and perform proper paperwork for surplus.

Maintains simple records of work activities. Order parts via on the phone and online.
Provides estimates for large repair jobs.

 Ability to drop off, pickup parts and vehicles at other locations. Ability to communicate
with other business.
