Job Description
ZEISS is looking for an Application Scientist – Image Analysis to join the team at the newly built state-of-the-art
ZEISS Microscopy Customer Center (ZMCC) facility
equipped with light, electron, and X-ray microscopes. The Applications Scientist position is a highly skilled and technical specialist position utilizing application knowledge to support the sales process. The scope of the role includes providing technical and application-related needs assessment, customer sample image analysis, proof of concept demonstrations, and customer training.
Success requires strong technical knowledge a digital image, data analysis, 3D visualization, and basic video editing. Excellent communications & time management skills, along with the ability to learn quickly and work in a highly collaborative environment are essential. At all times, conduct in accordance with company guidelines and standards is expected.
In this position, you will:
  • Provide technical support to our field sales team and customers to ensure their success.
  • Maintain the latest versions of our analysis software on facility computers and proactively equip the ZMCC with the latest computer hardware.
  • Work closely with applications team to support correlative microscopy projects and solutions (CLEM).
  • Create and build a repository of training and marketing content on image analysis solutions to help our customers.
  • Conduct training and workshops at customer sites and at the ZMCC.
  • Work with datasets from ZEISS Microscopes (Light, Electron, and X-ray) to provide image analysis solutions to customers.
  • Collaborate with local and global product teams to develop competitive strategies and share knowledge across teams.
  • Collaborate with specialists, account managers and marketing team to conduct proof of concept demonstrations and sample runs.
  • Continuously learn and acquire skills on new and upcoming software solutions including APEER, ZEN Ecosystem, Arivis and Dragonfly.
  • A positive “can-do” attitude coupled with a willingness to continuously acquire product and application knowledge independently.
  • Knowledge of microscopy image analysis, segmentation, and data visualization is required.
  • Masters or higher in Cell and Molecular Biology/other Biological Sciences, or related engineering fields, preferably from an accredited college or university.
  • Implementation of MS Office, related software, and strong presentation skills is required.
  • 3+ years of working knowledge is preferred on high-end microscopy. Experience may include (but not limited to) laser scanning techniques, electron, or X-ray microscopy.
  • Solution-oriented problem solver with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Python and Matlab programing skills are advantageous.
  • Proven ability working with a wide range of Image Analysis software.
The salary range for this position is $110,000 - 130,000 annual.
The salary offered for this role may be influenced by factors such as job location, scope of role, qualifications, education, experience, & complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent. This position is also eligible for a performance bonus.
