In the role of an Applications Developer, one will support various mainframe-based applications, and be responsible for maintenance and operations on existing systems, designing and developing new software solutions, and evaluating off-the-shelf software solutions for customers. The ideal candidate for this position will be a self-motivated person with great organizational and technical skills that can multitask in a fast-paced environment.
This position is with the Office of Administration, Information Technology Services Division (OA-ITSD) supporting the Department of Social Services (DSS).

What You’ll Do

• Database design.
• Creating and updating relevant documentation such as user manuals.
• Designing developing and supporting secure interfaces between systems.
• This position will be responsible for requirements collection.
• Code development.
• Maintenance and operations on existing applications supported by the team.
• Code review and technical testing.

All You Need For Success

• Project management skills preferred.
• Effective communication skills, both verbally and written.
• Successful background check results are required for employment in this position. This may include background checks involving a candidate’s name and/or fingerprints and other screenings as needed for the specific position.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks in an effective and efficient manner.
• Working knowledge of syncsort and Webaware preferred.
• Knowledge related to developing and maintaining mainframe applications using DB2 for z/OS, CICS, COBOL, JCL.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight timelines.
• Strong technical and troubleshooting skills.
