Application Security Engineer

Key Role:

Work hand-in-hand with the client and application community to maintain a resilient security posture for highly visible applications. Remediate application security flaws in conjunction with the application team. Lead security discussions with the application teams to prescribe security best practices within their development lifecycle. Perform dynamic and static application performance testing, perform security requirements creation or generation level threat modeling leveraging tools, and perform application level testing using applications, including Burp Suite. Work with the latest Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) frameworks.

Basic Qualifications:

• Experience with OWASP
• 5+ years of experience with triaging security alerts from SIEM/SOAR, IPS, or WAF
• HS diploma or GED
• Experience with federal compliance standards, including NIST 800-53, FIPS, or FedRAMP
• Ability to obtain a security clearance
• Knowledge of modern DevSecOps technologies and CI/CD pipelines
• 5+ years of experience with handling ransomware or malware related incidents
• 5+ years of experience with using the design and implementation of enterprise-wide security controls to secure applications, systems, network, or infrastructure services
• 5+ years of experience with vulnerability scanning technologies, including Tenable, SAST, DAST, and container and dependency scanning
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools and technologies, including Terraform

Additional Qualifications:

• Experience in working with Microsoft Azure cloud technologies
• Experience with cloud computing, including provisioning and maintaining Azure services
• Bachelor's degree
• Azure Solutions Architect, Azure Developer, or Azure DevOps Engineer Certification
• Experience with Kubernetes or Azure AKS for container orchestration
• Experience with OWASP ZAP or Burp Proxy
• Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience with systems administration, including Windows and Linux systems

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $73,100.00 to $166,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
