The Application Development team is responsible for application development and modification and / or maintenance of applications. These individuals have in-depth knowledge of development tools and languages, with an emphasis on VBA code. Incumbents in these positions work closely with business partners in defining requirements for applications.
The Application Developer acts as the principal designer for major applications utilizing a thorough understanding of available technology, tools and existing designs. This position has responsibility for technical delivery of complex development activities for a given assignment. They will also act as a technical resource responsible for directing the overall technical progress of projects or application initiatives. In this capacity, they will plan and administer the operational and administrative activities of a Development Programming unit or team.
Responsibilities
- Look at ways to make software components more consistent, easily supported and more highly performing through the use of existing software design guidelines and analysis of performance bottlenecks.
- Scope and design efficient solutions to documented business needs.
- Interface directly with clients to clarify requirements or discuss alternative solutions.
- Manage code review process.
- Prepare technical documentation.
- Builds, modifies, reviews and analyzes software systems through code development, testing, debugging and documentation.
- Research problems discovered by QA or product support and develop solutions to the problems.
- Provide project estimates and manage delivery expectations.
- Review, evaluate and prepare periodic activity and progress reports.
- Coordinate activities with IT unit heads (e.g., database, operations, telecommunications, etc.)
- Work closely with client management to identify the business requirements and processes for diverse development platforms, computing environments, software, hardware, technologies and tools.
- Participate in MS SQL server and Disaster Recovery exercises, deployments, and restore.
- Consult with functional management in the analysis of short and long-range business requirements and recommends innovations, which anticipate the future impact of changing business needs.
- Conduct unit & integration testing.
- Perform complex product design, systems analysis and programming activities.
- Provide production support for existing software within the areas covered by the role.
- Serve as primary technical point of contact for interaction with other units and teams.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Proficient at creating and writing system test.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Experience with ticketing systems. KACE and JIRA experience.
- Solid understanding of database theory and SQL
- Proficient in MS SQL Server, ability to build views, stored procedures, triggers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with a concentration in Information Technology preferred.
- Experience developing MS Access Database Solutions and VBA.
- 2+ years of MS SQL Server database development experience.
- Candidates must demonstrate a proficiency with and have a significant work history using MS Access VBA with intricate code requirements. This is not an entry-level position.
