JOB TITLE: Application Developer I

DEPARTMENT: Customer Service Applications - Kansas City Headquarters or Topeka General Office
LOCATION: Kansas City, MO
Topeka, KS
PAY RANGE: $55,200 - $69,000
Scheduled Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Additional hours as required). This role will be a combination of remote and in-office work, with the ability to attend meetings on-site as appropriate. Candidates who are performing work remotely must live in Kansas or Missouri.

- Work on a team of engineers, developers, DBA’s and business SME’s to operate and enhance core business systems.
- Provide programming or development support to various application interfaces including web services, database queries and file-based interfaces.
- Assists in the testing and debugging of applications prior to implementation.
- Become familiar with business, corporate, and IT goals and standards.
- Assist with the resolution of routine application issues, practicing troubleshooting, problem solving and time management in a team environment to gain experience.
- Maintain application software and integration documentation to ensure alignment, security and performance of application software solutions.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or other related field, or equivalent relevant experience
- Working knowledge of at least one programming language, preferably Java.
- Working knowledge of concepts, best practices and procedures related to application development.
- Basic familiarity with workstations, networks and operating systems including Windows 10 and MS Office.
- Basic familiarity with reporting tools and platforms.
- Basic familiarity with Source Control tools and best practices.
- Always work to maintain a high-level of customer satisfaction.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with end users.
- Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with members of the technical team.
- Basic familiarity with Agile methodology and tools.
- Seeks and identifies appropriate solutions to problems.
- Communicates effectively with both technical and non-technical staff.
- Working knowledge of Relational Databases and SQL.
- Knowledge of Web Services, XML, JSON or any Object-Oriented Language.

Working Conditions: Normal office working conditions. Must be able to work remotely/independently after initial on-boarding/training.
