Animal Husbandry Supervisor Jobs

MPF Federal is currently seeking an Animal Husbandry Supervisor for an animal research facility in Aberdeen, MD. Employees are expected to be familiar with the day-to-day activities, workflow, personnel, and daily schedules within their assigned facilities. MPF expects each of our employees to be forward-thinking and to create and assist in quality contract performance. The Animal Husbandry Supervisor will assist management in efficient contract operations and maintain an effective, positive, and professional relationship with both MPF and Government staff.

This description is not all-inclusive of the duties required to complete the job. Employees are expected to complete all assigned duties daily as directed by management.

Compensation ranges from $28.00-$31.00 and is based on skills, experience, and certification.

Job Duties

• Familiar with day-to-day activities, workflow, personnel, and daily schedules within the facilities assigned.
• Ensure facility supply inventories are procured timely and on-hand inventories are available.
• Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reporting as directed.
• Provide daily, weekly, and monthly quality assurance for all areas of responsibility and report any non-compliance for immediate correction.
• Provide staff with the specific on-the-job training required to perform animal husbandry tasks associated with their position.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned by management.
• Schedule staff for daily, weekend, and holiday coverage.
• Forward thinking, creating and assisting in quality control performance.
• Comprehend, follow, and ensure all project duties are performed in accordance with project SOPs and policies.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by Project Management.
• Provide oversight for the husbandry and cagewash operations as well as the staff assigned to these areas.
• Provide implementation and oversight of staff evaluation, mentoring, and correction.

Education, Certification, & Experience Requirements

• Must have previous animal experience, facility operations and fundamental knowledge of supervision.
• Must have previous animal experience be a forward thinker and create and assist in quality performance and contract requirements
• Ability to work 7:00 am and 4:00 pm (Monday through Friday). May be required to work on the weekends and holidays as scheduled. The weekend/holiday hours are generally between 7:00 am and 1 pm but may vary.
• Must have 2 years of laboratory animal science experience.
• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Employees should hold a current AALAS certification at the LATG level or be able to obtain this level of certification within six months of employment.
• Must possess computers skills such as Word, Outlook and Excel.
• Must be US Citizen and ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
