ALUMNI RELATIONS ASSISTANT


Position Overview


Nueva is an independent PreK–12 school where gifted learners discover and develop their passions, and learn to make choices that positively and profoundly impact the world. Having recently completed Realize the Potential, a groundbreaking $125 million capital and endowment campaign, the Development and Alumni Relations Office is looking for someone to join our team who is enthusiastic, organized, detail-oriented, and excited about independent school education.


The Alumni Relations Assistant is responsible for assisting the Director of Alumni & Community Engagement with the strategic and tactical execution of the school’s goals towards maintaining an engaged and loyal base of alumni, parents of alumni, and grandparents. This is a full-time, 12-month, non-exempt, two year position and will report directly to the Director of Alumni & Community Engagement. The position will work collaboratively with the Development and Alumni Relations team, under the general supervision of the newly-appointed Director of Development.

Primary Responsibilities


  • Collaboratively work with the Director of Alumni & Community Engagement to lead and manage volunteers
  • Assist with alumni, parents of alumni, and grandparents annual fundraising campaigns
  • Assist with planning, organizing, and executing receptions, reunions, meetings, and special events both at the school, remotely, and regionally
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Alumni & Community Engagement and/or Director of Development
  • Assist with developing and strengthening Nueva’s alumni, parents of alumni, and grandparent relations program
  • Work with the Director of Alumni & Community Engagement to support the creation and drafting of alumni news stories, social media posts and marketing collateral
  • Support the management and growth of MavNet, Nueva’s dedicated alumni networking directory


Qualifications


  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge or comparable CRM software a plus
  • Sensitivity, discretion and a sense of humor
  • Experience engaging all diverse stakeholders
  • Commitment to The Nueva School’s mission
  • Trustworthy and loyal; demonstrated ability to use good judgment and maintain confidentiality
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Maturity, excellent judgment and emotional stability
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Development and/or alumni relations experience
  • Ability to manage competing demands and adapt to frequent or unexpected changes
  • Effective team player and proven ability to motivate others
  • Personable, positive, helpful personality; customer-service mindset


Compensation


The hourly salary range for this full-time, 12-month position is from $28.50/hour to $34.00/hour. The starting salary is based upon, but not limited to, several factors that include type and years of creditable experience, education level, and expertise.
