Job Description
Viterbo University is accepting applications for a full-time Admissions Counselor. The Admissions Counselor is responsible to recruit and enroll a diverse group of motivated undergraduate students. This position will work independently and as part of a team to provide courteous and accurate customer service to all students, visitors, and the campus community. This staff member will have travel and outreach responsibilities with community groups, college fairs, pre-college groups, high schools and alumni events. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Identify students in the assigned territory who may be a fit for the University and engage them in the admissions process through a systematic effort of personal contact (including phone, email, text and letter). Manage enrollment funnel in the assigned territory by moving students from inquiry to applicant to admitted student to deposited student to enrollment. Provide proactive, thorough and timely information to students about the admission process, financial aid process, academic program, and student experience. Work with the rest of the admissions staff to develop the annual recruitment plan including the annual calendar of admissions events, and implement activities and events as assigned. Assess the effectiveness of various recruitment tactics and initiate new activities and programs to support the achievement of the office and individual enrollment goals. Maintain accurate, up to date files on prospective students through the CRM with strong attention to detail. Cultivate relationships with high school counselors, teachers and administrators, and with students and their families through college fairs, high school visits, and on-going personal communication. Conduct engaging and effective campus visits for individuals and groups. Assist with day-to-day operations of the Office of Admissions as needed and participation in University committees, meetings and events. Work occasional weekends and evenings on-campus or weekends, evenings, or overnight stays during recruitment travel. Cross-train with other academic programs in order to be conversant on transfer, adult, and graduate program offerings and admission requirements. Serve as admission liaison to an academic college or academic functional area of the University. General Requirements/Qualifications: Bachelor's degree required with experience related to the coordination of marketing projects, public presentations, or the management of events. Experience working in higher education student services, experience with high school students, or closely related area preferred. Must have strong interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills and a commitment to continued growth in areas related to social justice, equity, and inclusion. Possession of a valid driver's license, with the expectation of regular travel particularly during the fall and spring recruiting season. Experience with Ellucian Colleague, Ellucian Recruit CRM, and Microsoft Office preferred. Bilingual candidates, able to write and speak in Spanish proficiently, are strongly encouraged to apply.
