Position Summary:

The Office of Undergraduate Admissions is responsible for the recruitment and enrollment of incoming first-year, transfer students and International Students. Admissions actively engages prospective students and their families off-campus by participating in high school visits and college fairs, as well as virtual events and presentations. Admissions also hosts students on-campus through a variety of prospect and yield events. Admissions works with CMBM to create marketing materials for a variety of constituent groups, including school counselors. Finally, Admissions reviews over 10,000 applications each year with an eye toward meeting TCNJ's enrollment goals in terms of geographic, multicultural and academic diversity.

The Admissions Counselor for Transfers and International Recruitment position resides within the Division of Enrollment Management within the Office of Admissions. As part of TCNJ's strategic initiative, this position specifically works to improve campus diversity by increasing the visibility of TCNJ and enrollment of Transfers and international students to our campus community. This position not only works to increase visibility and enrollment, but also participates in campus wide conversations on retention efforts specifically focused on Transfers and international students.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Center for Global Engagement to serve as an emergency backup campus DSO(designated school official)
  • This role will include but not limited to:
    • Working with the VPEM, Executive Director of Undergraduate Admissions and the Assistant Director of Transfers
      to develop and implement marketing strategies to increase visibility, market share and international matriculated
      students
    • Engage in recruitment activities both international and domestic in efforts to increase TCNJ visibility and
      international market share
    • Work with enrolled international students to ease transition issues and to monitor and develop programming
      which improves retention and 4-year graduation rates
    • Work with the Center for Global Engagement to serve as an emergency backup campus DSO(designated school
      official)
  • Other responsibilities will be able to meet with prospective students to discuss the application process, requirements to apply and application review.
  • The primary responsibility will include the recruitment and yielding of Transfers and International Students, with an emphasis on building and maintaining relationships with International Schools abroad and high International Student population schools domestically.
  • Secondary responsibilities will include supporting data management efforts through the Office's CRM system, communication creation and other marketing efforts.
  • Additional visits to Fairs and/or information sessions (in-person and virtual) will also be required for both Domestic and International populations.
  • Work with enrolled international students to ease transition issues and to monitor and develop programming which improves retention and 4-year graduation rates
  • This counselor will also be responsible for any other requests from the Director of Admissions to serve the recruitment cycle.
  • Working with the VPEM, Executive Director of Undergraduate Admissions and the Assistant Director of Transfers to develop and implement marketing strategies to increase visibility, market share and international matriculated students
  • Engage in recruitment activities both international and domestic in efforts to increase TCNJ visibility and international market share

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to travel at least 10% of the time (e.g. no less than two months per year, domestically/internationally when applicable)
  • Ability to manage prospects and communications with many stakeholders on and off campus.
  • Strong oral presentation skills in both large and small forums and effective written communication skills
  • Knowledge of policies surrounding student visas and study in the US by non-nationals.
  • Understanding of International transcripts and NACES Evaluations
  • Ability to advise on decision making in respect to international marketing for International High School/University Students.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Fluency in another language is not required but preferred
  • Experience working effectively with English Language Learners
  • Experience in Marketing and Communications both virtually and face-to-face
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 2-4 years of direct experience in admissions or recruitment for a US university or English school/program
