Multimedia Administrative Intern

The John Hope Franklin Humanities Institute at Duke (FHI) is seeking an administrative intern to assist with communications tasks to promote our public events and other programs. Responsibilities will include video editing, graphic design, and content creation for the institute’s social media channels. This position is designed for recent post-graduates, whether post-Bachelor, post-Masters, or post-Ph.D. Flexible hours and hybrid work arrangements possible. Position is available NOW. 15-20 hours per wee k available.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Photography with a mirrorless stills camera
  • Designing event-related flyers, website graphics, and other ad-hoc graphic design needs
  • Video editing of recorded events, including excerpts for social media
  • Maintaining a database of FHI video content using a spreadsheet

Skills:

  • Video editing
  • Working with Excel or a spreadsheet program/template
  • Working with various image types: gifs, jpegs, png files, etc.
  • Communicating effectively with various colleagues to meet deadlines

Qualifications:

  • General understanding of and interest in humanities research and methods
  • Experience with poster design using Adobe Il lustrator, Photoshop, &/or Canva
  • Experience with video editing software: Premiere Pro &/or Final Cut Pro X
  • Some photography/videography experience

Education

Work requires communications, analytical and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.
