Job Description
Summary:
The Accounts Receivable Manager will lead multiple high volume teams within Patient Accounts to meet accounts receivable and patient satisfaction goals. The Accounts Receivable Manager is responsible for overseeing Cash Management Assistant, Remittance Processor, Refund Specialist and Collection Specialist roles. The Accounts Receivable Manager ensures that all monies, including insurance payments, cash, checks, and credit cards, are applied to the proper account in a timely and accurate manner and the funds are balanced daily. The Accounts Receivable Manager will work within established benchmarks for performance and ensure feedback is provided in a timely manner on quality and efficiency metrics. This position will use data as a key driver of team management, project development and performance evaluation.
The responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Submitting monthly reports to the Patient Accounts Manager with summaries and statistics of the previous month’s activities;
  • Coordinating training of new staff members;
  • Using, operating, and maintaining office equipment as trained.
  • Interviewing and hiring new Cash Management staff to fill open positions;
  • Coordinating and submitting program correction requests with all appropriate parties;
  • Completing payroll at the end of each pay period;
  • Implementing established Patient First and department policies and procedures as directed;
  • Balancing accounts receivables (AR) cash to actual cash;
  • Evaluating staff at three and twelve months during the first year of employment and annually thereafter while completing additional evaluations as needed;
  • Leading the team responsible for ensuring that all monies received are applied to the correct account;
  • Managing the operations of the Cash Management team; creating, implementing, and maintaining policies, procedures, and controls;
  • Developing methods to constantly enhance the knowledge of the Cash Management staff;
  • Conducting staff meetings as necessary;
Minimum education and professional requirements include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word;
  • Employee must be 18 years of age or older;
  • Experience efficiently managing staff to meet production and quality goals;
  • Bachelor’s degree in management or related field preferred;
  • Excellent visual, verbal, written, and typed communication skills required;
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to provide accurate, thorough, and consistent information;
  • High school diploma or equivalent required;
  • Experience with training new and existing staff;
  • Experience leading a high-volume accounts receivable department or comparable accounting experience;
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
  • Experience with data analysis and reporting preferred;
