This opportunity is accountable for managing the strategic delivery of organized, valid reports for key stakeholders by identifying and implementing innovative accounting and reporting tools and overseeing team development to ensure team provides quality accounting and reporting services.
Primary Responsibilities
  • Manage budgeted resources by anticipating expenditures, accurately forecasting resource needs/costs and properly accounting for expenses to meet requirements and achieve fiscal responsibility
  • Optimize team performance by establishing, communicating and monitoring key performance indicators to identify opportunities for continuously improving reporting response time
  • Foster strong partnerships across the business by communicating with key stakeholders to solicit feedback on team performance and identify strategies for continuously improving reporting for business objectives
  • Manage lower level team members by addressing any complex questions, reviewing journal entries and maintaining consistency with closing processes and monthly closing procedures such as reconciliations and journal entries
  • Build relationships with senior management by gathering and executing ad-hoc requests as needed for specialized accounting and reporting projects and communicate audit results to cash manager
  • Perform reconciliation process by reconciling assigned ledger accounts, listing reconciliation items and identifying, investigating and reviewing reconciliations completed when necessary

Required Education
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience

Required Experience
  • 4 years relevant experience

  • Perform direct and/or reinsurance contract and calculation review
  • Provide staff training for direct and/or reinsurance accounting processes
  • Leverage effective communication skills and issue resolution techniques with internal and external customers
  • Ensure accurate and timely accounting for direct and/or reinsurance contracts; ensure accurate direct and/or reinsurance contract setup within the system
  • Assist management with inquiries from FP&A and Actuary departments
  • Clearly and confidently convey information to a wide audience
  • Ensure adherence to departmental quality control measures
  • Management of the collection and application of cash within the sub ledger
  • Understand the needs and goals of a customer and actively look for ways to meet them
  • Encourage and build mutual trust, respect and cooperation among team members
  • Efficiently and appropriately delegate tasks to ensure timely goal achievement
  • Maintain current knowledge of developments in relevant technology
  • Build long-term collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders

Preferred Education Specifics
  • Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business

Preferred Experience
  • Increasing levels of responsibility

Preferred Knowledge
  • Applied proficiency in Microsoft Excel; utilize pivot tables, basic formulas and CSV formatting
  • Advanced working knowledge of finance technology processes, procedures, solutions and best practices
  • Advanced knowledge of Economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data
  • Advanced knowledge of products and concepts relating to the insurance accounting industry, including financial reporting standards (AIRFR, GaaP, Statutory) financial management, insurance principles and cash and capital principles
