Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Accounting Manager to join our private company in Annapolis, MD. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles. The ideal candidate should possess a CPA designation, have at least 5 years of relevant experience, and preferably have a minimum of 2 years of public accounting experience. This position reports directly to our Controller, located in historic downtown Annapolis, MD. Responsibilites


  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the company's systems and data flows, identifying areas for improvement and implementing appropriate solutions
  • Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts, foreign currency exchange and intercompany transactions
  • Train and mentor accounting staff, promoting a culture of accuracy, attention to detail, and high-quality work
  • Coordinate and assist with the annual audit process
  • Demonstrate a strong work ethic, self-motivation, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Manage the day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger
  • Show a genuine desire to learn and understand the overall business operations, industry trends, and market dynamics
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidating financial statements
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy

Qualifications & Experience


  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in public accounting preferred
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Location: Must reside within commutable distance to our office in Annapolis, MD
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven track record of attention to detail, accuracy, and delivering high-quality work
  • Proficiency in accounting software and systems
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • CPA designation is required
Work Environment:


This position primarily operates in an office setting. The typical work environment is professional and collaborative, with regular interactions with team members and other departments. The Accounting Manager may occasionally need to work extended hours to meet deadlines or address urgent matters.
