Job Description

Description:Position Overview - Accountant
Entry-to-intermediate level Accounting Professional that independently performs a variety of accounting work, as well as conducts support and administrative tasks for Senior Accountants and the Director of Finance & Accounting.
All accounting positions at the Foundation are expected to work regularly with all departments regarding accounting inquiries and submissions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Accountant

  • Verifies and processes priority reimbursements for Foundation and Society board & committee members, speakers, and other volunteers. Ensures all reimbursements are accurate, timely and comply with policy and tax law requirements.
  • Maintains records retention for department per compliance requirements. Responsible to properly archive significant and mandatory financial documentation for the Foundation.
  • Supports Senior Accountants in the preparation of various other journal entries, reconciliations, substantiations and documents analysis in a timely, accurate and appropriate manner. As the incumbent is fully trained, may take ownership of significant processes.
  • Independently performs accounting functions including but not limited to the reconciliation of bank statements, creation of various reports, reconciliation of cash accounts, distribution of monthly financials, and completion of governmental/compliance forms (e.g.: W9’s, credit applications, etc.). All work must be completed accurately and on-time.
  • Reconciles and enters employee credit card statements and expense reports on a monthly basis. Ensures timely, accurate processing that is in compliance with policy and tax law requirements.
  • Supports the department in the development of the annual budget for the organization.
  • Prepares month foreign currency exchange and CPI data/reports.
  • Independently researches and reviews stale-dated checks and determines when it is appropriate to process escheat function.
  • As needed, supports the accounts payable (A/P) function with workload, records maintenance, analysis of records, etc.

Accountant Compensation - Accountant
$45,000-$55,000 Based on experience
Requirements:Required Education/Experience* - Accountant*
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, plus a minimum of 6 months (including internships) professional relevant experience is required working in an accounting function and with an accounting program.
The International Foundation will always consider candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum Qualifications* - Accountant*

  • Strong software proficiency including MS Outlook and Excel is required. Additionally, experience with SmartSheet is a plus, but not required.
  • Strong customer-service skills including both written and verbal communication.
  • Tech savvy with the proven ability to quickly and effectively learn new software programs and processes.
  • Personal or professional experience with online banking platforms.
  • Demonstrated accuracy in prior accounting work experience.
  • Track record of success working in environments or processes with many branched “if, then” variables that require assessment, analysis and independent judgement.
  • Highly organized and able to effectively prioritize a fluctuating workload.
  • Experience with Great Plains is a plus, but not required.

Hybrid Work Environment* - Accountant*
New hires are expected to be fully onsite during the training period. Then, once fully trained, the Foundation operates on a 60/40 Hybrid schedule; with 60% being onsite at our headquarters in Brookfield (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays); and up-to 40% being optionally remote (Mondays and Fridays) and as business needs allow.
