Academic Support Counselor Jobs

Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey is seeking an Academic Support Counselor in the Office of Student Affairs in the School of Public Health located in Piscataway, NJ. Under direction of the Assistant Dean Student Services, the Academic Support Counselor is responsible for overseeing the administrative procedures for an assigned caseload of students related to their academic progression in the school.

The Academic Support Counselor will:

• Works with department faculty to address student issues, connect students with additional professional advisement, and on advising for exceptions to curriculum plan.
• Provides support to all degree students, (e.g.MPH, DrPH, etc.) regarding registration, progression towards degree, and any academic issues that arise.
• Maintains regular in-person and online office hours for individual and group appointments.
• Serves as primary contact for students’ academic questions and concern
• Refers students to appropriate support services as needed, such as Financial Aid, Registrar, Student Support Services, and Career Services.
• Advises an assigned caseload ofMPH, DrPH, and MS students on curricular requirements, while being able to assist students not on caseload as needed.
