Imagine Your Impact
The Academic Designer, Social Studies, writes, plans, and develops digital content for student and teacher materials. This position collaborates with other departments to prototype and lead the development of specialized builds in social studies.
  • Compensation: Base pay is anticipated to be between $60,044 and $68,000 per year. Eligible employees may also receive incentive/commission/annual bonus pay based on individual and/or company performance. Compensation may vary based on factors such as, but not limited to, individual skills, experience, training, education/certifications, geographic location, internal equity, and local market conditions.
  • Position Type: This is a regular, full-time position, based out of your home office.
  • Location: In this U.S.-based position, your location will be remote.

Envision Your Experience

Social Studies Academic Designers will work with colleagues to develop detailed curriculum maps and scope and sequences for a variety of history and social studies courses aligned to state standards and the C3 Framework. Social Studies Academic Designers will oversee the production of content for these courses, collaborating with colleagues to deliver dynamic student and teacher content in both print and digital formats.

Share Your Expertise
Experience, education, and qualifications essential for success in this role include:
  • A demonstrated experience with curriculum design in order to create engaging, research-based content that aligns with state standards
  • Excellent writing and editing skills and the ability to produce quality work in a timely manner
  • The ability to manage teams of writers while coordinating with other departments, both in-house and external, as they develop high-quality content for various educational offerings
  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in history, curriculum design or development, or other related liberal arts fields. MFA in writing is preferred but not required.
  • At least 3 years of experience writing, editing, or developing social studies curriculum or professional writing experience
  • Experience creating formative and summative assessments that incorporate knowledge of industry best practices
  • Professional or academic experience working with writing teams, including the development and delivery of targeted or general feedback to ensure the quality or accuracy of materials across builds
