Duties and Responsibilities
1. *Assists with the implementation of all areas related to the NHSS Student Scholar Center program plan from planning to implementation and maintenance, such as daily drop-in hours and in-person services and workshops.
2. *Assists with the day-to-day management of the NHSS Student Scholar Centers to include assisting students, staff, and/or community members who require support and information regarding the NHSS Student Scholar Centers and affiliated programs.
3. *Assists with the management of student staff and Graduate Research Assistants in the NHSS Student Scholar Centers to assure consistent coverage and services to visitors.
4. *Assists with the NHSS summer institute coursework, including setting up coursework with Outreach College, and working with faculty and department liaisons.
5. Assists with the yearly professional development efforts of NHSS faculty and staff, as well as student employees.
6. *Works with students participating in NHSS programming, including student recruitment, such as creating flyers and applications, and communicating with student participants about expectations and related liaison work with departments and partners
7. *Process purchasing documentation and submission for program expenses, supplies and costs
8. Participate is NHSS Coordinators meeting, planning meetings and other meetings as needed
9. Participate in NHSS staff meetings and other business meetings as needed
10. Connect students with necessary support services on campus and within the broader community
11. *Compile student program data, as well as assist with survey data collection and student evaluation interviews. Assist the PI with implementing processes for data collection, surveys and student interviews throughout the project period.
12. Helps PI lead the Hawaiian student research activity on the Kapaakea project, to include a yearly Native Hawaiian Student Profile report completion and compiling of Hawaiian student data at UH Manoa and across the UH System.
13. Assists with data collection for required federal Annual Performance Review reports, including student transcript and completion data.
14. Recruits, hires, trains and supervises student and volunteer staff
15. Provides relevant data for grant reporting
16. Participates in professional development activities including training, workshops, and conference travel
17. Assists NHSS in developing and implementing its student programs
18. Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
1. Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Education, Hawaiian Studies, Hawaiian Language, Social Work, Management, Ethnic Studies or related field and 0 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for student affairs, student programming, and/or residence life; or equivalent education/training or experience.
2. Functional knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in student affairs, student programming demonstrated by knowledge, understanding and ability to apply concepts, terminology.
3. Functional knowledge and understanding of principles, theories, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and systems associated with student affairs, student programming.
4. Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur in the area of student affairs, student programming.
5. Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
6. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members and individuals.
7. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
8. Any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated
Desirable Qualifications
1. Master's Degree in Education, Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, Psychology, Hawaiian Studies, Hawaiian Language, Social Work or a related field
2. Able to converse in Hawaiian
3. Demonstrated ability to utilize social networking media, publishing software, and/or web software.
4. Experience with RCUH fiscal procedures.
5. Demonstrated ability to work with Native Hawaiians
6. Possession of a valid driver's license
