Title: 2023 Women in Sports Data Fellow

Overview:


The Philadelphia Phillies are excited to offer 10 R&D Fellowships to the Women in Sports Data Symposium (WISD). Women in Sports Data promotes diversity and equity in sports analytics through the expansion of women's professional networks and the cultivation of cross-sport dialog among industry experts. A Phillies R&D WISD Fellow is a highly-motivated individual with a growth mindset, a strong team mentality, and a genuine interest in sports analytics.


The fellowship includes a ticket to the Women in Sports Data Symposium, travel to/from Philadelphia, PA, overnight accommodations for two nights (Friday, September 15 and Saturday, September 16), and a daily stipend for meals and local transportation. In addition, Fellows will receive mentorship and networking opportunities with Phillies R&D staff.


Schedule


Friday 9/15


  • Evening: Optional meet-up to watch Phillies game with R&D staff
  • Morning/Afternoon: Travel to Philadelphia, check-in to hotel
  • Afternoon: Citizens Bank Park Tour, including R&D room


Saturday 9/16


  • Attend Symposium


Sunday 9/17


  • AM: Check-out of hotel, depart Philadelphia


September - December


  • Fellows will be partnered with someone from either our Software Engineering or Quantitative Analysis team depending on their focus area
  • Paired mentorship with a member of R&D for career advice
  • Invitation to 3–4 virtual career talks hosted by R&D
