QUALIFICATIONS: Experience working with disability students

Assist the bus driver in maintaining good student conduct.

Assist in transporting students into school and home, delivering students into caretakers' responsibility.

Operate a wheel chair lift and stabilizing the wheel chair in position on the bus.

Assure that students get on and off the bus in a safe and orderly manner.

Assist disabled students in getting on and off the bus.

Experience in bus and safety risk management;

High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate.

Knowledge and understanding of child development;

Experience in policy and procedure processes;

Experience in working in group setting;

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;

High School education or equivalent preferred

Instruct special education students and/or other passengers in the rules and regulations to maintain safety on the school bus

Assist in the implementation of strategies to manage student behavior

Ability and willingness to be trained in CPR and First Aid (training provided)

Ability and willingness to be trained to assist with students who are medically fragile and have special medical needs

Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with students, parents, teachers and district personnel at all levels

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Working knowledge of or ability to learn computer skills; and

Working knowledge of academic and functional instruction as defined by the school's population;

Considerable patience and awareness of the different disabilities of students in assigned location;

Ability to physically assist students, such as lifting, transferring, and other activities required to care for students with physical disabilities;

Ability to communicate effectively between students and general education teachers.

Help the Driver focus on driving the assigned vehicle.

Greet students in a pleasant manner.

Ensure all students arrive safely at their destination.

Perform child checks at the conclusion of every tour of duty.

Always maintain a safe environment on the bus.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Pay Range: $16.08 per hour

Maintains discipline using appropriate techniques. Reports student misconduct to the proper authority.

Maintains confidentiality with all District information, including District and school population information.

Assists with maintaining a clean and orderly vehicle.

Assists in checking the entire inside of the vehicle at the completion of every student run.

Demonstrates effective organizational and time management skills

Provides assistance in behavior management, to include appropriate utilization of Nonviolent Crisis Intervention techniques

Ability to establish and maintain accurate record keeping, document management, and filing systems

Maintains regular communication with student’s classroom teachers, special education team, counselors, and administrators, to identify changes/progress in behavioral interventions

Ability to manage simultaneous demands and set clear priorities

Ability to work days, hours, locations, and assignments as directed by the supervisor within the position responsibilities

Must have TB testing and Bus Attendant/Aide Health Certification.

Must not have felony convictions in last five years.

Must not have ever been convicted of a crime involving children.

Must not have ever been convicted of drug-related crimes.

Must pass a successful background check including child protection registry.

Must pass a successful pre-employment drug screening.

(1)Verification of 48 college credits, (2) Verification of Associate’s Degree, (3) Verification of Bachelor’s Degree, or

(4)Pass Local No Child Left Behind Assessment.

Experience working with special education students is preferred.

All documentation/certification necessary (scanned copies accepted) to substantiate minimum qualifications; must be uploaded into application

Knowledge of school safety, procedural, and policy guidelines and applicable regulations.

Skills in communication and human relations.

Must have complex problem solving skills.

Must possess excellent cross-organizational knowledge.
