Basic computer use knowledge and skills

Follow established programs, policies and practices to produce safe quality foods that meet regulatory and company requirements.

Proficient knowledge and ability in welding, as well as electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems

2+ years maintenance mechanic experience

Balance and treat chilled and condenser water systems, sequence chiller operations, clean tube bundles, manage chiller fluids and purge chiller.

Be aware of and follow regulatory requirements.

Possession of appropriate EPA certification is necessary.

Must be able to fulfill the requirements needed to drive a University vehicle.

5 years’ experience as a Maintenance Technician in an institutional setting in an engineering or maintenance discipline.

One of the following: Journeyman Electrical License, Registered ACR Technician with EPA certification in Refrigerant, or Journeyman Plumber License.

Experience working with blueprints and schematics.

Must submit a copy of high school transcripts that reflect the HVAC education courses that have been completed.

Desire to establish a mechanical based technical skill.

Your key responsibilities will be/what you’ll do:

Perform assigned tasks using hand tools and power tools while under the direct supervision of a mentor.

Must be at least 18 years old or possess a valid Delaware Department of Labor Child Labor Work Permit for Minor.

Must be able to work 20-40 hours per week.

Possess a minimum of three years’ experience as a journey level HVAC mechanic (beyond apprenticeship or other equivalent training).

Possess experience working with various types piping systems, including black and copper.

Possess good knowledge of air handling systems, hot water and chilled water pumps.

Must be able to meet the physical requirements listed below.

HVAC Certifications (ASHRAE or others)

Certifications in one or more of the following disciplines:

Valid driver's license and good driving record

Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work from heights or small crawl spaces

Fabricate, assemble and install ductwork and chassis parts, using portable metalworking tools and welding equipment.

Install evaporator unit in chassis or in air-duct system, using hand tools.

Install expansion and discharge valves in circuit.

Connect motors, compressors, temperature controls, humidity controls, and circulating ventilation fans to control panels and connect control panels to power source.
