Certified Pipe Welder Jobs

Knowledge of welding techniques, metallurgy, AWS/ASME codes, and engineering requirements

Obtain and maintain internal licenses, operator permits or certifications as required

7+ years of experience with TIG (GTAW) welding per ASME B31.3 normal and high pressure service applications

10+ years of experience using SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, oxy acetylene, fitting, arc gouging and electronic welding equipment related to the trade

General mechanical skills in concrete, machining, and alignment/setting

Experience with standard tools, materials, motions, and practices of the welding trade

High school diploma or equivalent qualification.

3-5 years of experience pipe welding.

Excellent knowledge of welding machinery, electrical equipment, and manual tools

Interpret blueprints, drawings, and measurements to plan layouts.

Weld small and large components, primarily pipe (3/4” to 2”)

Use specialized machinery for industrial welding and oversee machines that perform the same job.

Pipe Welding experience in an industrial setting is preferred

Must be able to weld and pass qualification test coupons during the pre-employment test

Stick Pipe Welder Job Responsibilities:

Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly

Plan installation or repair to avoid obstructions and avoid interfering with the activities of other workers

Secure pipes to structure with bracket, clamps, and hangers, using hand tools and power tools

Previous welding training and/or experience

Must pass an Electric Boat socket and X-Ray butt test and SSP 3.11 test per training requirements

Must possess basic mathematical skills

Pipe welding training and/or experience

TIG (GTAW, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding) welding process training and/or experience

Electric Boat pipe welding experience

· Regular attendance at work and the ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and holidays.

· Review layouts, blueprints, diagrams, or work orders in preparation for welding or cutting metal components.

· Complete welds to the specified standards using appropriate equipment and materials.

· Install and verify operation of high-pressure steel pipes and fittings.

· Set up equipment and weld parts, using arc, gas-shielded arc, submerged arc, or gas welding equipment.

· Work with minimal supervision.

Reads and interprets blueprints, including reading and interpreting GA’s, flowcharts and

Makes comparison of spool drawings to GA’s to assure correctness

Works with different types and sizes of materials

Safely operates iron worker, overhead cranes, rigging, pipe threading machine, welding

Assembly of components with some fabrication of equipment needed for the job with

Decides when spooling where to leave field welds, when to put couplings in pipe, and

Prior experience welding with Army certification 88L30

Must have master understanding of production and fit up experience.

Prior U.S. Army Watercraft experience

Must be able to read blueprints, technical manuals, schematics or drawings, and/or related technical documentation.

Must be able to obtain and maintain DBIDS badge.

Must be a U.S. citizen

Demonstrate knowledge and skills in safe rigging practices

Demonstrate knowledge and skills in use of oxy-acetylene flame cutting equipment

Recognize various materials used in the craft and demonstrate a working knowledge of appropriate material handling techniques

Demonstrate knowledge and ability to qualify and pass all welding performance tests

Demonstrate knowledge of regulations governing quality control codes

Uses the SAP maintenance management system in the accomplishment of job duties.

Uses a basic knowledge of all process equipment in performing job duties.

Must possess current ASME, Section 9 Welding Certification (6G Pipe).

Obtain forklift and manlift certification.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:

Must have 4 years of verifiable experience as a pipe welder in industrial construction.

Knowledge of Nation Electric Codes preferred.

Ability to obtain a mobile equipment license, forklift certification, side-loader certification, electric pallet jack certification and overhead crane certification are preferred.

Experience as a pipe fitter (pipefitter), AWS certification, and Ironwork/Rigging are a plus

May be required to get certification in operation of overhead cranes, forklifts, and man lifts.

Must have active welder certifications (GMAW, GTAW, SWAW, FCAW)

Must be experienced with stainless steel and carbon steel pipe from 1" schedule 5 to 12" schedule 40 pipe

Must have knowledge of welding repair techniques

Must have basic math skills, able to convert decimals to fractions, and use all units of measure

Proven skills, work history and/or applicable education will be considered in lieu of work experience.

Preheats work pieces for the preparation of welding or curving, using torch.
