Orange County Utilities provides water resources and solid waste recovery services to protect and enrich the lives of the citizens and guests of Orange County Florida. The Water Division ensures a safe and reliable water supply for all of Orange County Utilities’ customers. The Water Division operates three regional water supply facilities and nine satellite water supply facilities that collectively produce approximately 60 million gallons per day.
Water Division is seeking a highly qualified individual to fill the position of Utilities Project Manager-Operations. This position is responsible for the Operations of the Water Production group within the Water Division, to include coordinating section activities, monitoring section compliance, operational optimization, and leading standardization efforts. This is professional work performed with considerable independence and initiative.
Representative Duties
- Provide guidance and feedback on facilities and equipment maintenance program and execution
- Engaged in innovation, collaboration and inclusivity between all operational divisions and sections within the Water Division.
- Coordinate activities of consultants, Orange County Utilities staff and contractors to complete projects or advance business initiatives as assigned
- Leadership and supervision for the water service area managers and their staff
- Communicate with the different water service area and SCADA managers to reach consensus on drinking water facility operation optimization
- Review/Revise/Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the water production group
- Create and lead projects necessary to standardize the operation of Orange County drinking water facilities across the 4 different water service areas
- Produce and interpret highly technical reports and memos
- Works cooperatively with other groups and divisions to achieve common goals and the vision set forth for Orange County
- Work productively and independently to support the Division needs and goals
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Science, Computer Science or a related field and at least five years of experience in an operational capacity, project management and/or project implementation; or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Depending on area of assignment, a license as a professional engineer or eligible for licensing by the State of Florida.
Preferences
- Drinking water industry experience
- Solid understanding of drinking water facility and equipment maintenance principles and best practices
- Direct supervisory experience and management experience
- Prefer applicants with experience in drinking water treatment processes and operations, federal and state regulatory compliance, process improvements and optimization, permitting and design

Working Hours: Monday – Friday / 8:00am – 5:00pm
