Sunshine Poker League offers a unique opportunity for a passionate poker player to join our team as a tournament director, responsible for managing our weekly tournaments with the goal of creating a fun and social learning experience that turns strangers into friends and friends into family. As a tournament director for Sunshine Poker League, your main responsibility is to oversee and manage the weekly poker tournaments. Our goal is to create a fun and social learning league that turns strangers into friends and friends into family one tournament at a time. We are a part of the Bar Poker Open organization and adhere to the Poker Tournament Directors Association rules. There is no buy-in to our league. The ideal candidate should have a passion for poker, be able to dedicate time to it, be quick on their feet, prioritize fun and learning over protocol, and believe that good poker directors set the tone for the tournament.
Responsibilities
- Setting up tournaments: The tournament director is responsible for setting up tables and chips
- Running tournaments: During the tournament, the director is responsible for managing the tournament, including handling sign-ins, keeping track of chips and blinds, enforcing rules, and settling disputes that may arise.
- Managing equipment: The director is responsible for ensuring that all poker equipment, including cards, chips, and tables, are in good condition and ready for use.
- Communication with league owner: The director must communicate regularly with the league owner to keep them informed of tournament progress and to discuss any issues or concerns.
- Zoom meetings about league info: The director must participate in Zoom meetings with league officials to discuss league information, such as schedules, rules, and promotions.
- Reading emails: The director must regularly check and respond to emails from league officials, players, and sponsors.
- Helping with promotion for games: The director must assist in promoting the league and tournaments through social media, flyers, and other promotional materials.
- Interacting with social media page: The director must monitor and interact with the league's social media pages to answer questions, respond to comments, and promote upcoming tournaments
- Recording and entering tournament placement info on website: The director must keep track of tournament results and record them on the league's website or other relevant platforms. This includes entering player rankings and updating them after each tournament.
Qualifications
