The Supply Chain Associate will work within the Research Foundation Office of Entrepreneurship & Innovation Partnerships and the planned NENY Battery-NY Pilot Manufacturing and Demonstration Center. The Supply Chain Associate will report to the Associate Vice President for Innovation and Economic Development, with secondary reporting responsibility to the New York Battery and Energy Storage Technology (NY-BEST) Sr. Director & Program Manager, NENY Supply Chain Program. The Supply Chain Associate will be a member of the NENY Supply Chain Team led by the Senior Director of NY-BEST. The Supply Chain team members includes this Supply Chain Associate from Binghamton University Research Foundation, NY-BEST, Alliance for Manufacturing and Technology (AMT), potential 3rd party Consultants and Contractors. The Supply Chain Associate will also work closely with the COO of Battery-NY, while coordinating with the Binghamton University team, and the NENY Supply Chain Team.
The Supply Chain Associate, working with the NENY Supply Chain Team, will assist in identifying companies that are potential battery supply chain candidates and coordinate in the process to qualify the companies. In collaboration with the NENY Supply Chain Team, the Supply Chain Associate will also work on supply chain assessments and gap analysis, strategy development and support for product testing, compliance with certification requirements and product performance measurements. The Supply Chain Associate will also help regional start-up companies and incoming storage companies identify and connect with potential regional suppliers.

Salary Range: $90,000 - $100,000 annually - This position is funded by a 3-year grant.

Essential Duties

- Participate in regional information sharing events
- Conduct regional outreach to manufacturers
- Conduct outreach to manufacturers outside the region
- Facilitate collaboration with Binghamton University, Battery-NY and the NENY Supply Chain Team
- Meet with potential Southern Tier supplier candidates and supplier candidates beyond the Southern Tier to discuss requirements and access interest
- Assist with assessing transition technical feasibility
- Participate in selecting candidates for transition process
- Understand supply chain needs and requirements
- Provide technical consulting services, including technical assistance needed, process requirements definition, documentation, training needs, and support qualification process
- Understand knowledge gaps and educational needs
- Assist in defining and implementing manufacturer success KPIs
- 5 years industry experience in manufacturing engineering or design engineering.
- Strong verbal and written skills.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to coordinate activities within complex organizations.
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial and Systems Engineering or other relevant engineering fields.
- Industry experience in cell or battery manufacturing, manufacturing supplier or other relevant/related manufacturing companies.
- Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial and Systems Engineering or other relevant engineering fields.
- Experience in process/product development and expansion
