Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician
Location: Maplewood, MN 55109
Shift/Schedule: 06:00-02:30PM
Travel Rate: $44 - $49/Hr.
Local Rate: $41 - $46/Hr.
Holiday Rate: $68 - $73/Hr.
Hours Per Week: 40
Hours Per Day: 8
Days Per Week: 5
Start Date: 09/15/2023.

Duties
  • Completes document for replacing safety and emergency stock.
  • Operates dryers, heat sealers and steam sterilization equipment.
  • Follows CPC written policies and procedures.
  • Operates steam sterilizers.
  • Responds to emergency requests for supplies and instruments.
  • Decontaminates CPC instrumentation and equipment.
  • Inspects, tests, assembles, packages and labels O.R. surgical instruments, implant, and vendor sets in preparation for sterilization by following all manufacturer's instructions for use (IFU's).
  • Prepares and uses solutions per manufacturer's instruction.
  • Distributes instruments to the proper surgical case and hospital site.
  • Runs biological monitor with every sterilization load.
  • Reviews and interprets O.R. surgery schedule on an on-going basis to determine priority of surgical instruments needed. Assembles instruments according to the daily distribution report.
  • Incubates, reads and records biological monitor and releases sterilization loads from quarantine.
  • Transports instruments and supplies between processing areas.
  • Communicates between shifts and with supervisors and managers for efficient operation and problem resolution.
  • Completes Sterility Check points on instruments assembled and shipped.
  • Serves as a resource to surgeons, nurses and other medical personnel.
  • Operates mechanical ultrasonic cleaner, cart washer and washer decontaminator.
  • Ensures instruments are available and ready when needed.
  • Assists in locating site-specific instrumentation.
  • Works closely with co-workers and functions as a team.
  • Operates Ethylene Oxide and low temperature sterilizers.
  • Assembles instruments to the quality triangle of be 100% complete, sterile, and on time.

Education
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) preferred at Southdale, Ridges, Lakes, Northland, Woodwinds, St. Johns, St. Joes, and Bethesda
  • Three to five years' experience in a sterile processing environment.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) required at UMMC locations
