Overview

FMC has an opportunity for a statistician to bring their statistical expertise, data science knowledge and passion for answering scientific questions to the world of research and development in agriculture. This position will reside with the Global Development Biology statistics team working with scientists across the globe to frame research questions, design experiments, and generate data-based knowledge and insights across all stages of research and development. The team collaborates daily with scientists in fields across biology, chemistry, and environmental science to deliver effective, environmentally sustainable agricultural solutions to feed the world.

The selected candidate will be located at the FMC Stine Research Center in Newark, DE USA and support FMC Global Research and Development.


Responsibilities

  • Analyze scientific data and produce visualizations and output to effectively communicate findings
  • Collaborate with scientists from lab to field development to refine questions, perform analysis and communicate results
  • Provide statistical guidance at all stages of research and development projects across multiple scientific disciplines
  • Support end-users of data analysis/visualization software (commercial and in-house developed applications)
  • Partner with project team to interpret results and communicate conclusions that support project objectives and further scientific understanding
  • Design, develop, and maintain macros, functions, routines, and applications for statistical analysis and data visualization
  • Design experiments and create analysis plans to meet project objectives

Education

  • Master’s degree or PhD in statistics, biostatistics, or related discipline

Qualifications

  • Flexibility to adapt to the needs of a dynamic organization working with teams to deliver results against deadlines
  • Applied expertise in (generalized) linear mixed models and experimental design
  • Expertise in statistical programming and analysis software (R, SAS®, JMP®), application development (R, python), and interfacing with databases/data pipelines (SQL)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to ensure effective communication with audiences across the global diverse backgrounds
  • Hands-on experience developing, designing and executing the statistical components of projects from conception/design to report out
  • Scientific curiosity, problem-solving and critical thinking skills to develop or adapt analysis methods to address unique technical problems in R&D
