Illinois Residency Requirement: This position requires Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date.
The Staff Nurse II will administer patient care with a high degree of skill, as prescribed by a provider/physician. The selected candidate will assist physicians/providers in the examination, procedures, and treatments of patients including documentation of presenting signs/symptoms of illness or injury, vital signs, current medications, and pertinent history as well as administer immunizations and injections in accordance with the orders of provider/physician and guidelines of the Illinois Nurse Practice Act.
Additionally, the Staff Nurse II will provide documentation of medical services accurately and completely in the student’s electronic medical record updating visit notes, procedures/treatments performed, as well as telephone medical advice, and other non-visit interactions. Further duties and responsibilities may be assigned in support of the department’s mission and goals.
This position is a current, full-time vacancy at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. The hours for this position are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (37.5 hours weekly) and requires no weekend or evening hours.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

• Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in Illinois with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation.
• One year of nursing experience comparable to that gained as a Staff Nurse I.
