Byte Back's Scholars are predominantly people of color, women, and unemployed or underemployed adults. 90% of Byte Back program participants do not have a college degree.
By the year 2025, nearly 85,000,000 jobs will be lost to automation, artificial intelligence, robotics, and machine learning. Most of those jobs are held by marginalized, underrepresented, and minority communities. Our mission is to close the digital divide by providing under-resourced communities an equitable pathway into the digital economy. We achieve this through transformative digital advocacy, digital literacy, and tech certification training. We exist to reskill these individuals to help them be marketable for 21st century jobs. About The Opportunity
We are looking for a dynamic Staff Accountant to join us. The Staff Accountant will report directly to the Accounting Manager. You will be part of Byte Back's exciting evolution as we respond to an ever-increasing demand for our services. Your key roles are vital to the growing organization as they are ensuring accurate expenses, managing risks, implementing/improving policies, training, General Ledger management, AP/AR, Audit Support, and collaboration with the budget. Overall, you and the Accounting Manager manage all facets of the organization's financial system. This opportunity allows you to be part of a great team and room to make an imprint within the organization.
About Your Responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Assist with Annual Budget
  • Manages AR this includes, following up with Grantors and assisting Accounting Manager compile monthly invoices
  • Maintain good working relationships with government officials, foundation and corporate partners, and the NGO community
  • Supervise full AP Cycle, which includes: vendor set up, coding, processing, and reconciling to the GL
  • Support Accounting Manager with financial reports
  • Reconcile General Ledger Accounts as assigned
  • Monitor weekly bank and credit transactions in collaboration with team members to track deposits and prepare journal entries
  • Collaborate with team members for Year End Audit
  • Team up with Accounting Manager to implement systems, policies, procedures, and controls which assure that Byte Back's financial operation functions efficiently and effectively; is designed to account accurately for various grantors and funding streams; and complies with standard nonprofit accounting principles
  • Elevate staff's level of financial understanding through coaching, training, and collaborative efforts
  • Ensure continual review of internal and strategic controls, communications, risk assessments and maintenance of documentation
About Your KSAs
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field. May substitute extensive work experience for degree.
  • Solution oriented and takes pride in finding resolution to complex circumstances
  • 2-3 years experience working with financial systems of complex projects and grant programs
  • Quick learner, you embrace new technology processes in efforts to create a more efficient environment
  • Self-starter who appreciates the space to self-manage and creates efficient ways to complete duties
  • Past experience working in a non-profit environment with high volumes of government grants
  • Working experience with Sage Intacct, Bill.com, Salesforce, and excel is a plus
  • Appreciates mentoring and helping others
  • Ability to work independently or as a member of the team, ability to be detailed-oriented, and ability to manage stress effectively in a fast-paced
  • Possess a strong Accounting background and understands the basic principles of GAAP
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain a high-level of confidentiality on all financial matters

Full-Time/Exempt Hybrid
Employee Compensation and Benefits: Salary range $55,000 - $65,000
