Your Impact:


The Shipping & Receiving Clerk performs inventory management tasks in connection with shipping goods and receiving incoming shipments under the direction of senior supply staff. This is an entry level position.

Shipping & Receiving Clerks perform a variety of clerical and physical tasks such as verifying materials against shipping and receiving documents; noting and reporting discrepancies and obvious damages; routing materials to prescribed storage locations; storing, stacking, or palletizing materials; removing material from storage and preparing it for shipment. Shipping & Receiving Clerks input inventory transactions into various IT/Logistics Information Systems.

The position complies with all safety and environmental requirements and ensures compliance with the Environmental, Safety and Occupational Health (ESOH) plan.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

Required Education and Experience:
  • A good working knowledge of supply chain management principles.
  • Must possess a valid state driver's license and with a good driving record.
  • Must be able to obtain a DoD License for operated equipment, note: an opportunity to gain a DoD License will be provided after hire.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of the governing supply systems, programs, policies, nomenclature, work methods, manuals, or other established guidelines (to include the Marine Corps databases of GSCC and DPAS).

Duties/Responsibilities
The Shipping & Receiving Clerk performs shipping duties such as verifying that orders are accurately filled by comparing items and quantities of goods gathered for shipment against system records and documents; ensuring that shipments are properly packaged, identified with shipping information, and loaded into transporting vehicles; and preparing and keeping records of material shipped, e.g., manifests, bills of lading. Receiving duties typically involve verifying the correctness of incoming shipments by comparing items and quantities unloaded against bills of lading, invoices, manifests, storage receipts, or other records; checking for damaged material; ensuring that assets are appropriately identified; and preparing and keeping records of goods received.

Specific duties include:
  • Delivering, organizing, sorting, and counting items in various storage locations
  • Preparing documents such as material release orders, issue/ receipt documents, bills of lading, and or shipping labels to properly route materials
  • Packing, sealing, and labeling containers to prepare materials for shipping
  • Determine transportation methods and arranging for the shipping and delivery of materials
  • Rectifying problems, such as damages, shortages, or nonconformance to specifications
  • Examining incoming and outgoing shipment contents to compare system records with manifests, invoices, or release orders to verify accuracy
  • Accurately maintaining inventory and transaction records with USMC and DOD systems

This position is designated as Mission Essential and may require overtime and or modified work schedules.

Physical Requirements
Medium- Exerts up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. Frequent kneeling, crouching, stooping, and walking are required. Work requires light to moderate physical effort in reaching, bending, turning, or moving hands, arms, feet, and legs to operate hand and foot controls while driving, raising, lowering, and tilting forklift trucks.

Work Environment
Must be capable of working in an outside environment, exposed to heat, dust, inclement weather, primarily standing on hard surfaces for 8 hours in a workday. Needs to be able to work well with co-workers and all levels of management. No hazards on job or unusual environmental conditions. Maintains a clean work area and works in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.

Equipment and Machines
Ability to operate office equipment such as a personal computer, printer, copy machine, telephone, fax machine, and other equipment including desk supplies and other work-related tools as required. May operate transportation equipment to include man-lifts, forklifts, electric carts, pallet jacks, dollies, or other heavy equipment (or a willingness to learn).

Attendance
Normal hours are Monday - Friday between 6:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary to meet deadlines. Must exhibit flexibility of work hours to adjust to surge situations based on critical mission requirements. With the exception of STD/LTD/ FMLA & approved time off, attendance is considered essential.

• Must always demonstrate professional behavior when dealing with customers, management, and co-workers.• Must have clear, concise, and accurate communications skills in English, both verbal and written.
  • Must successfully complete all applicable Federal and State mandated physical assessments.
  • Must possess enough strength and stamina to perform all duties, requirements, and functions as identified above.
  • Must be able to adequately hear and respond to voice commands and alerts from other employees, alarms, and other job-related noises.
  • When operating any vehicle for work purposes, must wear seat belt and in addition, no cellular devices are to be used when vehicle is in motion.
  • Must be able to move in and around confined spaces and uneven areas.
  • Must successfully complete pre-employment and ongoing drug-testing.
  • Willingness to work at heights up to 50 feet or in enclosed spaces.
  • Independent personal transportation to office or worksite is required.
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk to employees or others.
  • Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner.
  • Must have full range of motion.
