What you will do:

You are passionate about making new products that enable our customers to perform their best, ultimately delivering quality healthcare outcomes to patients. A key piece of the ENT R&D team, you are responsible for activities that span early-stage research through formal product release. You can adapt to project demands while supporting multiple development projects through skills in part/component design (CAD), releasing formal prints, and constructing prototypes (3D printed, machined). You will collaborate with engineers and technical partners and participate in design/technical reviews by providing feedback on designs and suggestions for best results.

Under minimal supervision, you will prepare layouts, drawings and design fixtures and equipment according to engineering specifications. Through the use of appropriate design software, systems and internal processes, you will translate design inputs into features and outputs ensuring optimal manufacturability, and compliance to regulatory and quality systems are achieved. You will take a hands-on approach to assisting the R&D team in prototype creation through the use of additive (3D printing) and subtractive (machine shop) methods.

  • Train or develop junior associates.
  • Review engineering documents and supporting documents to verify design integrity and adherence to company and industry standard.
  • Interact with internal assets to facilitate the delivery of prototypes and models.
  • Submit engineering drawings and documentation through appropriate control and approval processes.
  • Analyze documentation and confers with engineering staff to resolve details not completely captured or defined in specifications.
  • Actively contribute to assembly, test, and design analysis as required.
  • Coordinate with appropriate units of the business to evaluate outputs and deliverables for integrity, function, durability and manufacturability.
  • Work closely with design originators (e.g., engineers, designers) to resolve design details or discrepancies or to prepare drawings of unusual, complex or original designs which require a high degree of precision using computer-aided drafting (CAD) or computer-aided engineering (CAE) equipment.
  • Responsible for overseeing and coordinating cross functional support of project efforts to deliver electrical/mechanical/software assemblies
  • Submit periodic reports on assigned topics to appropriate personnel.
  • Write and expedite engineering change orders.
  • Coordinate component, tooling, and system acceptance with suppliers. .
  • Prepare and maintain detailed design drawings, schematics or specifications typically using computer-aided design software.
  • Train and/or assist in the training of others on design related topics.
  • Contribute to the evolution and enhancement of internal processes and standards


What you need:

Required:

  • Excellent mechanical/electrical/software design solving skills.
  • Sedentary work: may exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently to move objects. Generally involved sitting most of the time.
  • Associate degree in engineering graphics or related engineering/manufacturing curriculum
  • Coordination of eye, hand and foot movement with an ability to grasp by hand and meet cognitive demands to include visual and auditory discrimination / memory, reading ability and memory retention ability.
  • Excellent CAD or related software skills.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills including written and oral communication.
  • Exercise discretion and independence when applying professional expertise.
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • 4 years minimum CAD/software design related experience
  • Must be able to manage time, projects, stress and conflict.

Preferred:

  • 10+ years of experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering Graphics or related curriculum

Starting rate $31.73/hr - $44.63/hr.
