About the Position:


The Senior Accountant assists the Director of Accounting and Senior Director of Finance with a variety of complex general ledger and financial statement reconciliations. This position will assist in the preparation and analysis of financial reports. The Financial Analysis will facilitate cross training for all positions in the Finance and Accounting Department.


Pay Range:


$60K - $65


What You Will Do:


  • Analyze general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies including Account Receivables, Account Payables, Donation in Kind Inventory, Prepaid Accounts, etc.
  • Perform technical accounting research as requested.
  • Prepare monthly contract/grant invoices for assigned contracts and grants. Verify expenses are budgeted and all backup documentation attached.
  • Assist with the completion of several annual reports including but not limited to, the annual census report and filing, tax return worksheets for CPA firm and the federal indirect cost rate proposal.
  • Responsible for Construction in Progress reporting and capitalization to fixed assets. This includes restricted funds reporting on construction project spending. Reconciliation of current Construction in Progress and Fixed Asset Sub Ledger to General Ledger.
  • Responsible for equipment, property, and vehicle leases.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Analyze and prepare complex general ledger account reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Assist with new hire interviews and training related to Finance Department.
  • Request monthly rolling physical inventory count and analyze discrepancies.
  • Assist with staff job evaluations and reviews.

  • Ability to manage competing priorities, tasks, and assignments.
  • Prior experience of familiarity in a post-secondary environment and/or non-profit.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Required to wear comfortable and location appropriate clothes.
  • Hands-on knowledge of accounting software.
  • Frequently able to use all types of vision, such as close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception, to complete daily tasks.
  • Frequently sitting and typing for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Frequently required talk, hear, see, and use repetitive motions.
  • Strong computer skills, including database management and high proficiency with MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of business and accounting processes.
  • Frequently required to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Frequently able to communicate verbally and in written form.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Occasionally required to reach, walk, climb, pull, push, grasp, stretch, stoop.
  • Thorough knowledge and demonstrated skills in matters related to accounting and financial policies, procedures, and reporting.
