Job Description

Job Summary:(Essential Functions)

Prepare items required for workstation according to recipes, or instructions from Chef and Sous Chef. Also responsible for the cooking and proper "doneness" and seasoning of all items from the kitchen as they appear on the menu and daily specials. Maintains consistency and order on the cooking line. Prepare products assigned to workstation during service.

Education and/or Experience

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Must have at least 2 years related experience or training.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations

  • Possesses technical skills needed to fulfill required job duties. Must possess skills to determine freshness, taste, doneness, presentation, timing and product utilization.
  • Sound knowledge of menu and skills to determine taste, doneness, presentation, timing and product utilization.
  • Prioritizes work to ensure immediate needs are met. Accommodates reasonable special requests by members and their guests.
  • Knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include the following, but not limited to:

  • Makes recommendations for the maintenance, repair and upkeep of equipment.
  • Carefully follows club's standard recipes when pre-preparing and preparing all items.
  • Uses safe and sanitary food handling procedures including those relating to personal hygiene.
  • Performs other appropriate tasks assigned by Executive Chef and Sous Chef.
  • Maintains and cleans workstation and equipment.
  • Uses food preparation equipment according to manufacturers' instructions.
  • Properly assembles all tools and utensils needed to accomplish job duties.
  • Provide own professional kitchen knives and shoes.
  • Prioritizes work to ensure immediate needs are met. Accommodates reasonable special requests by members and their guests.
  • Prepares meats, seafood, vegetables and other items required for line and special function purposes as assigned.
  • Attends kitchen staff meetings.
  • Assists in preparing employee meals.
  • Assists with preparation of other food products in other kitchen areas as directed by Executive Chef or Sous Chef.

Licenses and Special Permits

  • Food safety certification (preferred).

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Work in hot, humid and noisy environment.
  • Push, pull or lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Continuous repetitive motions.
  • Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach.

The Club could function 7 days a week and 24 hours per day. Both management and hourly employees must realize this fact and be aware that at times it may be necessary to move an employee from their accustomed shift, station or department as business demands.
