Job Description

Actively recruiting for a Refrigeration Technician - Overnight shift


Experience:

  • Must have Process Safety Management (PSM) experience.
  • Minimum of 6 months industrial refrigeration experience, graduate of an industrial refrigeration program (I.E. possess a RETA 1 Operator License or Operator 1 License). Please list these on your application.
  • Knowledge of Industrial Maintenance including Pneumatics, PLC’s, Motor controls, and shop equipment operation desired.


Summary:

The Refrigeration Technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of refrigeration systems, including ammonia refrigeration systems, HCFC systems, hot water, compressed air, and steam systems.

The Refrigeration Technician works 6-6 overnight, on a rotating two-week schedule with a 3-day weekend off (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) every other week.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Minimize downtime due to equipment and system failure.
  • Perform and consult on robust preventative maintenance and refrigeration repairs.
  • Expertly perform emergency mechanical or electrical repairs, and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, pump, pressure, and hydraulic plant equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Assist and support training and development of more junior Refrigeration Technicians.
  • Understand boiler theory, RETA Operator I, and IIAR Basic NH3 Refrigeration schematics.
  • Pass a HAZ-Mat physical and pass the training to be certified as an Emergency Responder Technician Level and participate on the Emergency Response Team.


Skills:

  • Ability to work in confined and tall spaces, walk, climb, utilize a ladder, operate a lift, bend and stoop
  • Frequent overhead work
  • Basic math skills; percentages, fractions and measurements
  • Temperatures inside plant may vary from -25 degrees to over 100 degrees; outside work may be also be needed
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 75 lbs. occasionally
  • Ability to stand on hard surface for up to 12 hours per day
  • Repetitive gripping, pushing and pulling
