Job Description

Quality Control Director – Structural Steel
Compensations: – $115,000-$125,000 + Bonus
Location: Maryland
Office: Office Based

We are currently looking for a Quality Control Director for a Structural and Complex Steel work Facility based Centreville. The Ideal candidate will come from a Structural steel and Fabrication background. 5 years working with AWS standards.

Principal Responsibilities
  • Oversee the quality assurance and control processes, including inspections, testing, and auditing.
  • Implements inspection criteria and procedures for production.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Plays an active leadership role regarding operational quality within the manufacturing organization.
  • Documents and escalates non-conforming/out of tolerance production issues to the leadership team.
  • Manage and report on the status of the Plant quality objectives.
  • Leads the analysis of returned products to verify the nature of potential product quality concerns.
  • Ensures that statistical and measurement product data elements are being properly recorded and documented to validate the quality and conformity of all finished goods daily to provide customers with quality products.
  • Applies quality management tools and analytical processes in daily operations to support root cause analysis and internal corrective action processes, ensuring timely and effective responses to the various corrective action requests issued throughout the Plant.
  • Directs and monitors all test functions.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Engineering degree or Completion of a Quality Assurance certificate, through community college, ideally with an emphasis in Steelwork or manufacturing.
  • Ability to solve problems where only limited standardization exists and interpret a variety of instructions.
  • Over 5 years of management experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in an Steelwork or Fabrication
  • Knowledge and understanding of quality assurance procedures and measuring skills.
  • Knowledge of American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) audits and standards.
  • Formal or a minimum of 5 years of on the job training in the area of Quality Assurance.
  • Lean or Six Sigma training would be an asset
  • Knowledge and/or training in ISO 9001 procedures and responsibilities preferred.
