About the Role: We are looking for a Quality Control Laboratory Technician to join our Heparin-Analytical Chemistry Lab team. In this role, you will support heparin activity testing and associated lab activities. You will ensure the flow of test samples in order to meet customer demands and expectations. This is a hands-on position in a regulated environment that requires flexible work hours with quick turnaround times while maintaining integrity of work.

This role will be located at our facility in Flagstaff, Arizona.

Please note that evening, night and weekend shift positions are eligible for an additional $2/hour shift differential pay (in California, the shift differential pay is $2.40/hour).

Responsibilities:
  • Follow all applicable standard operating procedures
  • Perform routine heparin activity testing and extensive pipetting
  • Use LIMS, PLM, Excel, JMP, MDIS and other programs as appropriate in support of items listed above
  • Document information in appropriate formats to satisfy quality system requirements
  • Assist in maintaining safe, clean, & productive work area
  • Be responsible for laboratory maintenance and daily activities (including raw materials ordering, equipment calibration/service, waste removal)
  • Prepare solutions and set up/clean up assays and instrumentation
  • Scan documents into an electronic system
  • Engage in continuous improvement efforts
  • Interact with heparin coatings, manufacturing, and engineering teams and contribute to a fun, energetic and supportive workplace environment

Required Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of safe chemical handling and ability to follow established safety procedures and practices
  • Flexibility to adapt to change on short notice
  • Ability to follow verbal as well as written instructions
  • Demonstrated track record of attention to detail
  • Ability to learn new test equipment and software
  • Ability to be able to work within a quality system
  • Proven record of good attendance and proven effectiveness as a team player
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant scientific discipline OR a minimum of 1 year experience as a quality control lab technician in a regulated and relevant industry OR a minimum of 3 years general laboratory experience
  • Ability to work effectively within teams as well as individually
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant biological Science or Chemistry-related field
  • Experience with initiating and driving changes within a quality system and with quality control paperwork
  • Experience in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
