Project Statistician – Laramie, WY, Open, Nationwide
Trihydro, a mid-sized engineering and environmental consulting firm with a nationwide footprint, is seeking a mid-level statistician to play a fundamental role in understanding groundwater, surface water, and soil conditions at client sites. The role involves using statistical data evaluations to 1) assess compliance with local or national health standards, 2) determine whether remediation is needed, and 3) evaluate the effectiveness of corrective actions.

Responsibilities
As a statistician, your responsibilities may include:
- Supporting proposal writing
- Designing and implementing sophisticated sampling and statistical approaches to help address complicated problems
- Staying current with different statistical guidance from EPA, state, and local agencies for individual industries
- Conducting routine analyses using various software and programming languages
- Performing data quality control and management
- Preparing technical text and deliverables for reports
- Putting together presentations, articles, and workshops for conferences and meetings with agencies, clients, and staff
Typical statistical analyses conducted at Trihydro include exploratory and descriptive analysis, outlier analysis, parametric and nonparametric trend analysis, estimation of prediction, tolerance, and confidence intervals used in detection, assessment, and corrective action monitoring programs, parametric and nonparametric analysis of variance, one- and two-sample parametric and nonparametric tests, control charts and associated tests, and left-censored data analysis. Trihydro also routinely uses other more advanced statistical tools and analyses that may not be initially expected under this position; these jobs may be required of you in the future, given qualifications, training, and interest.
Position Qualifications
- An MS or PhD in statistics, bioinformatics, or other relevant degree
- 2-6 years of relevant experience, including independent academic studies
- Advanced-to-expert programming skills in R (working knowledge of additional programming language such as Python and SQL a plus)
- Detail-oriented with excellent time management and organizational skills
- Strong technical writing and other communication skills to interact effectively with project team members and clients
- Experience evaluating the quality of large datasets and determining how to handle any discrepancies prior to data analysis and/or how to interpret statistical results
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word
- Proven ability to independently design, program, and implement complex statistical analysis and associated visualization procedures
- Good employment or academic history
Location
Our Laramie, Wyoming office is the preferred base location for this position. However, we are open to discussing other office locations. Laramie is located in a sunny valley between the Laramie Range and Medicine Bow Mountains, on the eastern slope of the Rocky Mountains. Laramie is home to the University of Wyoming and offers access to numerous recreational opportunities and cultural experiences.

The salary information shown below is a general guideline ONLY. Salaries are based on candidates' experience, location and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range: $55,000 – $80,000.
