The primary responsibility of the Project Planning Specialist position is to plan, schedule, coordinate, and monitor Commercial Buildings Projects through the complete Engineering life cycle under the direction of the Project Engineering Director. This position requires technical knowledge of Commercial Building Systems products, design, services and interdepartmental processes.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

This role is very critical to the engineering department as the Project Planning Specialist actions will impact the productivity, efficiency, lead times, cost, and ultimately customer satisfaction. Project Planning Specialists will plan the work for over 250 internal resources and 150 external third party resources and schedule more than 9,000 jobs and over 100,000 tasks annually using internal software and new state of the art planning tool (Primavera P6). The role of Project Planning Specialist requires approximately 12 months of extensive training and scheduling experience to independently schedule projects.


Basic Function

  • Provide planning and scheduling support services to Sales, Customer Services, and our valued customers during quote stage of the projects and through the complete Engineering project life cycle
  • Advise Sales and Customer Services regarding Engineering schedule and available resources to facilitate optimal schedule to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Act as liaison between Commercial Buildings Customer Services and Engineering departments within the organization from pre-order through shipment


Pre-Planning Function

  • Schedule task completion to meet Engineering targets and revenue forecasts
  • Calculate complexity and duration of Engineering tasks for incoming orders for all Brand offices
  • Review project documents and specifications to accurately develop baseline schedules which include all required dates, activities and milestones
  • Coordinate and integrate work package and schedules to meet customer requests or Engineering lead time targets and commitment dates
  • Manage all date requests from inside and outside sales on current and pre-committed orders
  • Create daily production schedules and provide manpower and progress measurement reports in support of weekly and monthly reporting
  • Enter applicable schedule information into Scheduling systems, EAS, ESS, and P6


Post Planning Function:

  • Communicate with Project Engineers, Centers of Excellence, and Manufacturing Planners for status and any updates or operational issues that would affect scheduling activities
  • Track and oversee Management of Change to minimize rework and impact to schedules and overall lead time


QUALIFICATIONS


Education

  • Business degree specialization, master’s in business, project management, supply chain master or specialization, or Licenciatura


Skills Required

  • Demonstrate the ability to schedule low complexity projects per engineering lead time targets
  • Effective written and verbal communication as well as mathematical and basic computer skills
  • Minimum 3 years experience in scheduling, planning, drafting, or project management
  • The ability to communicate and work effectively with people at all levels both internally and externally
  • Oracle System experience preferred
  • Ability to estimate the time frame required to complete work
  • An average understanding of Commercial Building Systems product offering as well as general construction fundamentals and engineering principles as well as the ability to read and interpret architectural plans and specifications

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $60K to $80K + medical, dental, vision benefits starting day 1 + 401k and PTO. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process. (Full-time is defined as regularly working 30+ hours per week.)
