Description


We are looking for a dynamic, talented Product Strategy Director to join and lead a team of Product Planners to enhance industry expertise and develop product plans that help achieve growth visions for Cummins Software and Electronics Business . The role can be performed from your home office location with roughly 25% overall travel. We will also support and provide relocation services if you want to move closer to our headquarters in Columbus, Indiana.


In this role, the Product Strategy Director will make an impact in the following ways:


  • Provide leadership in Synchronized Business Planning (SBP) as the owner of the Master Project List (MPL) and guides key product related decisions
  • Oversees and directs the establishment of products to result in profitable growth
  • Effectively prioritizes future product opportunities for the portfolio to maximize business profitability
  • Lead the Pre-program Planning (PPP) process for relevant business unit
  • Establishes and maintains strong relationships with business leaders
  • Motivates, mentors, and develops planning management staff globally
  • Responsible for leading the current and future product planning of software and electronics products across multiple markets
  • Monitoring macro, market, or technology trends, to shape the long-term product portfolio
  • Owns total consolidated product road map and communicates widely across the organization

Deriving Market Insights: researches and collects market and competitor's product data, trends, and positioning using a variety of primary and secondary sources; analyzes the information to develop strategic responses, propose projects and solutions, and appropriately allocate resources to maximize business value


Deriving Product Needs: distinguishes desirable market attributes by studying market insights and translating these into relevant product capabilities


Product Tradeoff Evaluation: compares and contrasts the interplay of potential product features, regulatory and customer requirements, budget, and technical capabilities to evaluate and decide what can be offered to win in the market


Prioritizing Market Opportunities: collaborates with business stakeholders to define criteria and framework for ranking and achieving consensus on market opportunities


Scenario Planning: create alternate scenarios, each including an assessment of variances to business or financial goals, strategy, vision, and capabilities to enable strategic decision making


Education/Experience


  • College, university, or equivalent degree in Marketing, Sales, Engineering, or a related subject, required
  • Ideal candidate has 10 years of experience with engineering, marketing (B2B or B2C) product planning, and customer-facing
  • Ideal candidate has experience leading marketing, business development, and strategy in a manufacturing, industrial, or technology industry
  • MBA or equivalent degree, highly preferred


Compensation And Benefits


Base salary rate commensurate with experience, range: $150,000-$190,000. Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. Additional benefits vary between locations and include options such as our 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan, Cash Balance Pension Plan, Medical/Dental/Life Insurance, Health Savings Account, Domestic Partners Coverage, and a full complement of personal and professional benefits.
