Product Design Engineer - Mechanism Design

Summary

In this position, you will play a key role in developing the next generation of Mac and iPad devices. We will work closely within our product design team to develop ground-breaking core technologies that will surprise and delight our customers. The same passion for innovation that goes into our products also applies to our practices - strengthening our commitment to leave the world a better place. Since we are inventing entirely new product forms and features, you will be interacting with engineers across many subject areas in the company.

The ‘Architecture and Kinematics’ team designs systems that define user interactions. We use mechanisms and magnets to control motion and forces. Our unique and small team is highly collaborative and values mechanical intuition that can guide us towards great hardware innovation!

Key Qualifications

3D CAD modeling (UG preferred)
Fundamental knowledge of materials (plastics/metals/glass/composites)
Knowledge of manufacturing methods (forming, injection molding, CNC, etc.)
Mechanism design and optimization
Strong analytical/problem solving skills
Knowledge of finite element analysis theory
Excellent communication skills
Attention to detail in building precision models and test vehicles
Experience in MATLAB

Description

- Assisting in the development of new product concepts, technologies, manufacturing & integration methods
- Prototyping new product ideas by 3D modeling, fabricating, and assembling
- Retrofitting products with new features/technologies to evaluate performance and reliability
- Gathering, analyzing and presenting data to inform key design decisions

Education & Experience

- B.S. in mechanical engineering (5+ years proven ability in industry)

Pay & Benefits

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $130,000 and $242,000, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
