CAMDEN COUNTY TECHNICAL SCHOOLS

POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: PRINCIPAL
2023-2024 SCHOOL YEAR
GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP CAMPUS

Deadline: This position will be filled in no less than ten (10) days after the date of this posting.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Valid New Jersey Principal Certificate or eligibility.

2. Master's degree from an accredited institution.

3. Strong interpersonal and communications skills.

4. Attention to detail; technology skills.

5. High School Assistant Principal experience preferred.

6. High School teaching experience preferred.

7. Successfully undergo a criminal history background check and proof of U.S.
citizenship or legal resident alien status.

8. Meets the health qualifications required of all personnel.

9. Meets NJ residency requirements or willingness to relocate to NJ
within 365 days of employment.

10. Must follow the guidelines of the Camden County Technical Schools’
Nepotism Policy, File Code: 0142.1.

POSITION GOAL: To provide leadership for and managerial oversight to the instructional program
and school operations assuring a school climate that fosters the educational
development of each student and uses available resources effectively.

REPORTS TO: Superintendent

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Instruction:

1. Provide educational leadership.

2. Stay informed on current educational theory and practice, especially the New Jersey Core
Curriculum Content Standards.

3. Effectively evaluate staff.

4. Understand the school goals and programs.

5. Monitor curriculum and instruction/monitor assessment.

6. Develop school objectives.

7. Monitor and evaluate school/district objectives.

8. Conduct staff meetings.

9. Recommend instructional materials.

10. Foster an effective learning climate.

11. Conduct walk throughs.

12. Stay abreast of Special Education services.

13. Oversee Option II as per code.

14. Stay knowledgeable of differentiated instruction.

15. Oversee the Guidance Program.

16. Oversee the Nurse’s Plan.

17. Oversee the Media Program.

Finance:

1. Prepare Budget.

2. Monitor expenditure of funds.

3. Assure school budget reflects learning.

4. Oversee supply orders.

5. Oversee work orders of career programs.

6. Recommend fundraising activities.

Management:

1. Communicate effectively.

2. Manage office operation.

3. Foster staff and personnel relationships.

4. Ability to accomplish goals.

5. Oversee facilities management in collaboration with others.

6. Maintain accurate records.

7. Recommend staff to the superintendent.

8. Interpret CCTS Board of Education policy before decision is made.

9. Stay abreast of CCTS Board of Education Strategic Plan.

10. Oversee grading/grade books.

11. Monitor midterm progress and final progress.

12. Oversee attendance.

13. Maintain teacher sign-in, sign-out.

14. Oversee mentoring of teachers.

15. Oversee student teaching and guest teacher.

16. Oversee assignment of homework policies.

17. Manage the schedule for staff.

Parent Community Involvement:

1. Be aware of socio-economic needs of schools.

3. Solicit input from community/parents/guardians.

4. Maintain communications with community/parents/guardians/newsletters

5. Foster a good attitude toward community/parents/guardians.

6. Provide for Business Partnership.

7. Oversee Parent Voice Committee.

8. Oversee student and faculty problems.

Technology:

1. Maintain superintendent relationships.

6. Keep supervisors abreast of all incidents, progress, etc.

7. Oversee non-instructional activities.

8. Perform all other duties as assigned by the superintendent or designee.
