Job Location: Hershey, PA

Pay Rate: $18.50 an hour or more based on your experience

Minimum Age: 18 years or older

Availability: Requires availability to work daytime, evening, weekend, and holiday shifts

Hershey’s Pastry Cooks work directly with other team members to produce the amount of pastry and dessert items needed for the day and are responsible for the preparation and rotation of guests, events, and franchise orders. A Day in the Life

  • Follows HACCP policies and procedures to ensure the safe production of all food items
  • The Hershey’s Pastry Cook will provide prompt and courteous service to Hershey’s Chocolate World guests
  • Maintain the daily production of pastry items and desserts and coordinate needs of all Sweets locations (Bake Shoppe, Coffee Cocoa, Reese's Stuff Your Cup, S'mores and More Kiosk, and Ice Cream)
  • Decorate pastries, cakes, and gourmet chocolate treats
  • Employee will work with industrial kitchen equipment to produce pastry and dessert items
  • Meet all food safety and sanitation standards
  • Monitor hot and cold food holding temperatures and other required food safety duties
  • Complete daily checklists, properly rotate, label, and store prepped food items
  • Maintain online and onsite event order forms for pastry orders

What You’ll Need

  • Candidates must possess (or be able to complete within 6 months) ServSafe Food Handler certification
  • Accuracy in money handling, order taking, and execution of directions
  • Display pastry items and desserts according to standards
  • Serve food and beverages according to standards for portion and presentation
  • Perform bakery and guest service skills typical of a kitchen environment (decorative and piping skills, knife skills, following recipes, attention to detail, etc.)
  • Ability to react quickly to special situations
  • Leadership skills in motivation and teamwork to complete daily production requirements for bake shop

Who We Are Looking For

  • Individuals with 1 year experience in a bake shop, restaurant, or hotel pastry position is preferred but not required.
  • Decorating and Piping skills are required for this role.
  • Individuals with a high school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred but not required.

Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform major duties/responsibilities:

  • Must be able to work at a fast pace and remain focused, accurate, and efficient
  • Must be able to push, pull, lift, and carry up to 25-50 pounds. Overhead lifting may be required
  • Must be able to follow company provided recipes
  • Ability to function effectively as part of a team
  • Must maintain a neat appearance and meet the uniform standards
  • Requires bending, stooping, lifting, and twisting
  • Must be able to walk or stand for 5-8 hours
  • Ability to perform basic math functions
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
  • Good communication skills
  • Requires repetitive motion of the hands, wrists, and forearms
