Job Description
Overview:

General Dynamics Electric Boat, the nation's premier designer and builder of nuclear submarines, is seeking Operations Supervisors to take part in building the most complex product in the world.

The Operations Supervisor - Blast, Paint and MIP/SHT must possess energetic and positive attitude and be willing to change and develop as requirements of assigned tasks dictate.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Perform daily work order maintenance and progress work weekly
  • Continuous effort to improve operations, schedule span reduction, streamline work processes and work cooperatively with other trades to provide quality customer service
  • Coach/mentor employees
  • Understand and follow company policies, procedures, specifications, drawings and instructions
  • Maintain a clean working environment
  • Develop and execute plans
  • Meet department safety, quality, schedule and cost objectives
  • Take effective disciplinary action in accordance with company policy and procedures and confer with Human Resources concerning employee issues
  • Daily interactions with peers and frequently with supervisors from multiple trades and upper levels of management
  • Responsible for daily assignments and overall coordination of employees performing blasting, painting and application of special hull coatings

This position is located at the Quonset Point facility in North Kingstown, RI
Qualifications:
Required:
  • Must possess strong PC skills and proficient with MS Office suite
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the department of defense
  • Must be available to work all shifts, including extended hours and weekends as business needs dictate
  • Must be able to read and interpret EB blue prints
  • 3+ years of experience in blast and paint
Preferred:
  • Military experience
  • 5 + years previous leadership experience including supervisory, acting supervisor, working leader or management experience overseeing blast, paint and MIP/SHT/XHT operations
  • High School Diploma/GED/AS/BS Degree/ Technical School desired
  • NACE certification
