Who we are
The Department of Kinesiology and Sport Management (KNSM) is one of the largest academic departments at Texas A&M University. As one of four departments in the School of Education & Human Development, KNSM is currently home to over 1468 undergraduate students, 175 master’s students, 57 doctoral students (1700 total), and 87 funded graduate assistants. KNSM is an active member of the
American Kinesiology Association

The Operations Coordinator, under the direction of the Department Head, oversees and coordinates daily operations and operational planning for the School of Education and Human Development - Department of Kinesiology and Sports Management. What you need to know
Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience.

Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of related experience in operations planning, coordination or support.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with strong interpersonal, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • May be required to lift and/or move heavy weight objects such as equipment.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
  • Knowledge of spreadsheet applications.
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures of TAMUS.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience at TAMU.
  • Experience with the Department of Kinesiology and Sports Management.
Essential Duties/Tasks
  • Operations - Responsible for the daily operations and operational planning of KNSM facilities, including PEAP, PEBC, Gilchrist, HCRB, PDCWC, Mount Aggie, Omar Smith tennis courts, tracks, and Challenge-works. Responsible for the operations in the summer of KNSM facilities, with a particular focus on PEAP hosting of camps and outside activities for the department. Assists PIs, labs, research centers, and institutes across the department for maintenance and movement of supplies and equipment within laboratories and research centers. Oversees transportation of equipment needed for classes and special events. Assists with lab operations; monitoring freezer alarms, moving equipment and furniture for laboratories, and fulfilling supply request for water, ice, liquid nitrogen. May receive shipments and assists with removing surplus equipment. Maintains records of equipment and facility miniatous and upgrades, and necessary cyclical maintenance and updates. Input telecom requests.
  • Equipment and Educational Resources Maintenance - Responsible for the logistical support, oversight and maintenance for all departmental educational activities and equipment, In and around classrooms, ski slope, boot camp, running track, yoga rooms, weight training rooms and equipment, tennis courts, track, gymnastics equipment, gym equipment, basketball goals, volleyball nets / poles, vehicles, etc. Assists with installing and assembling equipment and supplies necessary for daily operations of an extensive classroom and physical educational program. Oversees laundry operations for health and sanitary operations of physical education program. Departmental truck and golf cart maintenance as well as regular upkeep of outdoor furniture and equipment. Emergency maintenance for classes and labs. Daily operational maintenance including installation and maintenance of furniture, upkeep and installation of walls and décor, upkeep of signage.
  • Special Events - Coordinates events, tournaments, summer camps between the department, University, and 3rd party stakeholders. Provides staff with pertinent information (schedule, set up, tear down, and access.) Coordinates room reservations and space needs accordingly.
  • Supervision - Hires, trains, and supervises student employees to assist with operational tasks and other duties as assigned.
