Multimedia And Visual Communications Specialist, Petco Love

Reporting to the Director of Public Relations & Strategic Partnerships, the Multimedia and Visual Communications Specialist is a creative-thinker and multi-tasker who knows how to move quickly to capture and tell an engaging visual story. The Specialist will be responsible for researching, shooting, editing, reporting, web and social related content. Responsibilities include videography and photography; graphic design for media and partnerships; and management of creative assets. They should possess a "newsroom" mentality (fast paced, quick turnaround), possess a love of capturing the moment and be able to infuse the Petco Love brand voice into their work. They should be comfortable developing and producing creative content across multiple platforms, specifically but not exclusively for social media, that reaches a pet-enthused audience and helps distinguish our brand, compelling individuals to donate and amplify our message. The ideal candidate will be a gifted storyteller and have proven-success in online publishing, graphic design, and have knowledge of SEO, be visually creative and have exceptional editorial skills: writing, editing and proofreading. A background in journalism and media is helpful and strong communication skills are essential.
The Specialist will be expected to leverage digital tools, technology and platforms to enhance their storytelling and connect with their audience. They should have experience using sharing content with internal stakeholders and on social networks and have a strong understanding of what content is engaging on these platforms, attractive to audiences, and be able to identify upcoming social trends and platforms.
The role will include creative concept and strategy development, photo and video editing, asset coordination, and content-related project management.
Responsibilities

• Actively seek out and help define new creative possibilities for sharing the stories of corporate partners, pet adoption partners, grant recipients, adopters and Petco.
• Prepare and format content to promote awareness initiatives, partner activities, and special events to increase awareness.
• Ensure messaging and design work well together, support both the Organization and Petco brands.
• Use brand voice and style to write and produce compelling content as assigned that meets established goals and expectations.
• Publish content on website, social platforms and develop strategy for distribution in partnership with Communications team.
• Video production and graphic design (logos, presentation decks, photo and video editing) to support our current external partners and engage new opportunities.
• Produce content to support our internal and external communications calendar in partnership with Petco Love’s Public Relations & Partnership team to support internal and external visual needs.
• Analyze data, create dashboards and provide regular reporting to Foundation leadership along with key recommendations for improvement.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education And Experience
Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Minimum 5 years experience in content production, design and proven success in social media content development.

• Proficiency with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tik Tok and YouTube posting and reporting platforms. Love of social media and storytelling is a must.
• Flexibility to deal with unanticipated projects that have tight turnaround times by adjusting schedules for other projects and clearly communicating those changes to stakeholders and teammates.
• Ability to effectively track down and interview an adoption partner, grant recipient, donor, or Petco partner to develop a story.
• Willingness to travel to capture a story.
• Self-motivated, good at taking initiative, and comfortable operating under a degree of ambiguity.
• Passionate about animal welfare and the Petco Love mission.
• Ability to demonstrate the personal and emotional impact of our work, as well as the data surrounding the measurable outcomes.
• Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat X Pro, video editing software. Experience with proprietary Content Management Systems with proven ability to quickly learn and assimilate new computer software.
• Proficient in capturing both video and still images and knowledgeable of live streaming technologies.
• Nimbleness, positive, can-do attitude. Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time in order to complete them accurately and on schedule. Willingness to embrace change and to adapt strategy on the fly.
• A strong writer and excellent communicator. Ability to write, edit and post content and copy.
• Training and experience in how to tell a story using words, images, video or audio and the technical know-how to effectively execute.
• Knowledge of design best practices and print production.
• Willingness to listen to feedback from others and find the best ways to incorporate that feedback.
• Strong ability to build and develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders, donors, volunteers, and teammates.

The pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different in other locations.
$55,800.00 - $83,800.00
Exact rate of pay will be based on position, location, and experience level.
